Any Reason as to Why Steering Wheels are on the Right Side of the Vehicles?

I realized pretty early that they are on the wrong side of the vehicle (read: the non-American side) and was wondering why that is.

Game is based on Mad Max movie that was filmed/ based in Australia - they drive on the correct side of the road ;)

The Game is Australian and they happen to drive on that side of the road.

Did anyone else hear your companion mock you for consistently getting into the car on the "wrong" side?

He says something along the lines of, "Why must you always enter the [car] from the wrong side. Surely you test my faith, Saint!"

I find it refreshing that not all games have to take place in America, or have american sounding main characters. I get it tho, it's for the widest possible market, and North America is a big chunk. Probably the biggest.
