Giving water to those thirsty people on the wasteland

I did it quite a few times, the dialogs are bugged BTW. they say "water? for me?" and such AFTER i give them the water.
NE way, is there a point / reward (other than moral satisfaction lol) to giving them water?
sometimes they say something like "you might find it usefull" as if they gave me something, but i dont see anything new on my inventory, and no new location added to my map.

So whats the reward for quenching their thirst?

They give you some undiscovered map locations (unless you have discovered them already).

There is at least one achievement for giving water to people.

If you've done both of the above, then you can do it out of good will!

You empty your canteen therefore having no water to top off your health.

Max is Mad and has secretly spiked all the water for the thirsty ones with drugs.

It is fun to give them water. When in the animation a convoy comes and wipes them all out.

Make them follow you off a cliff that is also good fun.

Use a Thunderpoon on them.

@ Laptop65: Thanks, i did get the acheivement, and the first times i gave them water i dint check the map, so maybe the did gave me something i dint notice.

@Rowho: LOL! the poor bastards have been obliterated quite a few times! More than once baddies pursuing me mowed them down, sometimes enemies appear during animation and kill them, and i "might" have "accidentally" "wounded" a few of them a couple of times.

Indeed they have Benzin.

The first time i gave them water only for us all to be wiped out in a convoy pained me. But boy did i laugh at the irony "No good deed goes unpunished"

How do you get them to follow you? You just walk arround near them?
I suddenly got 1,000,001 ideas of how i can have a little fun with them if i can get them to follow me.

You mean once there are no more looting locations left on the map?

On one occasion I gave water to a group of people and in the cut scene they were run over by a roadkill mob, it was hilarious.
