Mandatory Death Race?
Okay, so I'm doing yet another fetch quest. Mad Max, errand boy the game. Anyway, I need to get the fumehead gal to join, because the game says so. To do this I have to do one of Crow's races.

I hate these races. With a passion.

1. You are forced to use a car INFERIOR to what you've already built. Speed demon my butt.
2. I am TERRIBLE at races. I never fricking win those.
3. Yes, I do try to kill the other drivers, but thus far one has gotten away.

The way this game is, I'm guessing my only choice to replay a section I loathe, again and again, until I finally win, most likely due to probability. So I'm asking...

Is there ANY way around this?

Spoiler, you turn hard left past 90 degrees and boost over the edge, if you get it right you'll be far enough ahead that they wont catch you. Try to hit the barrells straight on to avoid getting out of shape. There's only 2 or 3 times you need to slow down, once you have them pegged you'll be right.

It's possible to finish it with nearly a minute to spare.

Thanks everyone for the supportive replies. Really appreciate it.

How can I post a save for someone to pass for me?

I thoroughly dislike the races in this game. If I could race the car I build they would have been fine but as it is I am forced to race absolute pieces of crap. I was going to go for full completion rate on this game but ever since I discovered just how crap races are that won't be happening. Good game with really crap anti-fun races.

I don't mean to be a prick, but it really is a matter of just learning the game physics. The only time I didn't get a legendary on a death race was the first time I played this very race, and that was because I missed a barrel. After that it was smooth sailing, and I never even kill anyone. It took me maybe 45 minutes after that to beat the rest.

Just learn how the car physics work. This game plays a lot like , or any arcade racer at that. Don't bother using the brakes unless it's a hard turn. Instead, just let off the gas and coast through most turns. Then when you get a straight or know you can floor it, hammer it down. Hell I've managed to legendary some races without using boost at all and even spinning out. A perfect run isn't even necessary. If following the red painted road is difficult, go to your map and place a marker on the strong hold in the area. Every death race ends at the strong hold for the territory its in.

The more I played the more car stats didn't mean crap. Acceleration is the only real important stat. Handling to the far left just means you take more damage on jumps. Attack is pointless with the shotgun/thunderpoon, and defense can become irrelevant once you learn how to counter. You can literally cancel out an attack (aside from grinding and fire) by attacking at the same time you're attacked. If a guy is charging you, BOOST and hit him head on. You won't take damage, even without a grill (make sure to boost or it won't work). You see a car side swiping or trying to T bone you? Side swipe at the right moment so the swipe animation connects with the attack. You won't take any damage.

I very much enjoyed this game up to this point. After attempting this race 12+ times, I give up. To me a game should be fun for all players not just the great ones. At this point it is not fun for me, I'm not into replay after replay for hours on end just to get worn out and have high blood pressure.

Holy necro.

Well if having to complete that 1 race is too much for you then you should just give up. It is way easier than any of the optional ones. Also, if you think that one is tough you will never beat the race in gastown.

I have completed all of the optional races with my own car. Having to use the cars they choose for you for this race is kicking my butt.

As HEADWOUND said, turn left and go off the cliff edge pointing at the intersection, you don't have to use boost. At this point you are way ahead of the other cars. Keep an eye out for ramps and shortcuts. Hit the barrels with the wheels straight and let off the gas just before hiting them, especially with the little lightweight cars.
It's not the game's fault, you need to develope the right tactics.
I respect anyone's right not to like any part of a game. I approach some of these races with a feeling of dread and sometimes you just have to get lucky but I also don't give up, I look for a change in tactics.

I also hate the Races I have tried for two days to beat the Speed Demon race and cannot play the rest of the game because I am stuck on this mission. I agree with the comment below it is exactly how I feel. I hate having paid for a game and then having to give up on it. That is why games have different ability levels. I HATE THE RACES!!!! The creators of the game should give another option for those of that do not have the dexterity to do these races. Other than than I love this game and am sad that I cannot complete it. I wish I could get my money back. Kudos to those of you able to win the races but there are enough of us driven to giving up on the game because of these stupid races that it is a problem in the design not taking into account differing abilities.

When exactly do we attempt said Hard left 90 degree thing?

That's some weapons grade necromancy my man. If you are instructions, it's best to go to the guides section since this game is a bit old now.
