How exactly do you grind?
I assume by grinding, all I need to do is drive the Magnus Opus against the enemy vehicle till I can see sparks in between the tires. Is this the right way to do it?

Because as far as I can tell, the damage done by grinding is ridiculously minimal. I have to reduce an enemy vehicle to as low as 0.1% hp just to destroy it by grinding.

I don't recall the game even telling on the proper way to grind so maybe I'm doing it wrong or is griding really this useless and pathetic?

Equip the tyres that do the most grinding dmg and get close side by side to the enemy car and grind away.

There is a button to grind ... on my gamepad it is the X button. Not sure what it is on keyboard or mouse.

That same button can be used to help make sharper turns too.

X is actually to perform a ram attack. Grinding seems mostly for flavor, or if you don't want to spend ammo for some reason.

Just seems pointless if you can fire the thunderpoon instead and get free ammo in your stronghold afterwards.

yeah that's what I don't get. I already have the 2nd highest tire upgrade yet my grinding damage is absolute s****.

I'm mostly trying to do it for the legend challenges. There's two of them, one in general and one for an archangel IIRC.

I use mouse/kb and get next to them hold scroll wheel and the right or left arrow keys depending on which side you're on. I use the spiked rims as well=grinding for me.

That's not grinding, that's a side-ram

I have pretty good luck with grinding for lots of damage. Usually I would just use the side-ram (I use a game pad, so it's X for me) and I will continue to hold the button as I also aggressively steer into the enemy. I sometimes end up driving off the road in a wide circle but will have the car shredded in no time! Also concentrate on keeping both tires against the enemy, your'll see sparks indicating if you only have 1 tire on or both.

The longer you grind, the more the damage ramps up. The last upgrade does insane damage.

Ooops, I'm sorry I had the buttons backwards in my head.

It is the B button that is the grind button.

I think .. hell, I ain't home where I can check. I know there is a button that you have to hit to actually grind and it also helps with faster turns.

+1 on the upgrades help a lot.

I will also agree that grinding is not my first choice, but if a vehicle gets beside me, I'm grinding it.

Wrong again, B is quickfire weapon.

Next you'll say it's Y and people will whine that they jumped out of their car ;-)
rcole_sooner Mar 4, 2016 @ 5:25am
Yeah, B is quickfire, that was dumb of me.

I dunno, but I swear I remember hitting a controller button to grind.

I'm stickin' with my original X, but I played Rocksmith all this week (took all week to get through my 150 favorite songs). I should get to some more Mad Max this weekend, and I see how my warped mind has been all confused on this.

:dunno:

What the in-game hints read was to hold down middle mouse and press A or D to grind in that direction. The initial press of the side ram will make contact, and holding the button down will sort of lock your vehicles together.

Sounds like some sort of car pron with all the "ramming" and "grinding" going on. Looks like it too... I'm sure there's some rule 34 on it somewhere.
