How the hell do I get hood ornaments?

I've defeated loads of convoys, yet there seems to be no way of picking up the ornament.

All the tutorial say is that it will "detatch when defeated", well I see no evidence of that.

All you do is wreck the convoy with the hood ornament on make sure to find it on the floor and pick it up

It will ask to install to rear or front.

They may fly away from the wreck, look around the area and if I remember right they get highlighted somehow.

Hmmm, finally got one atlast after another 3 convoy kills. Shame you have to actually destroy the car to get it. Guess the last ones flew away.

You know after an epic chase killing the escort cars and the lead vehicle driver, its kind of a downer having to either shoot it or ram it multiple times just to get something to fall off it.

If I kill the whole convoy it doesnt make sense to me that you have to destroy any car to get the scrap when you have chumbucket with you, surely he could strip scrap from wrecks in 10 seconds flat given that he can repair the magnus with nothing but a fire extinguisher and oily hands.

I've always had the ornament drop right where the car blew up, even if the scrap and such goes flying.

yeah and stealing the car for scrap doesn't give you it.

Look for the little ram head icon (same one the convoy truck had, except yellow like other pickups). Sometimes you might have to walk around the wreck as it could be blocking your view of it.

Well the last ones should still be there, you have to double-back to get them. If you don't completely destroy the convoy, it will respawn in full strength and you have to go through it all again. It gets easier with the upgrades though.

easiest way to defeat the convoy is to not bother with the escorts and just go right after the truck itself, get next to it and either shoot a wheel off it or use the harpoon a couple of times and expose the fuel tanks and then kill it , once its demolished the escorts drive away or at least you can bait them out of their vehicles and take them out by hand.

Yeah, I tried that once. Got told the car is not collectible.
