No option to fuel the car

As the title says, I don't get an option to fuel my car.
It's the first mission I do.
It already makes me want to quit. I've tried restarting, replaying the whole game (which is basically all I can think of to do). I also moved the car, thrown the stupid cans that don't want to get in the car etc etc.

I'm lost. Help please, or this is wasted money.

Pick up a can of fuel, walk behind your car, face the trunk, and & press the refuel button. Likely the same as your punch button. It's a bit finnicky with the placement, but figure it once & you'll never have this problem again.

You wasted your money. You're right you can't refuel the car. Once you run out of gas the game is over and you lose.

You have to bind a key/Button to refuel. Also you can store 1 can of gas in the back of the car.
If you go behind the car the options come onscreen to refuel or store.

Try getting in your car, driving a short distance away, then grab the fuel can and try it again.

if you are on the very 1st mission...the 1st place it takes you to...the fuel can is empty...you then proceed to the 2nd location where there is a 're-spawning' gas can...have to go to the rear of the car to refuel it...it may be a little picky about the angle your at...just back up and keep trying(you're out of gas at this point anyway and can't proceed until you fill it up)..then go back and grab another fuel can(another one will re-spawn) and put it in the back of the car as an extra.
