Why is this game so popular?
I'm honestly curious, it doesn't seem to have so much content at first glance. I own it but haven't had time to play it yet.

The game is not popular. It is the exact opposite. This is a hidden gem. And the importance is not "how many content " but "how good" the content is.

Mad Max is about 2 things. Smashing peoples faces in and make cars go wroom and boom.

And it is doing both so things extremely well.

So the only thing you have to ask yourself is. Do i like cars go wroom and boom and do i like smashing peoples faces in. If you answer with yes then this is the perfect game for you.

I do answer both those things with yes.

Interesting, thanks. I say its popular because it has quite a lot of players even though its a somewhat old game.

Super cheap when on sale, Batman-esque combat, fast cars, & crazy hunchback who is your BFF. Pretty insane, but fun game.

It is popular because it is one of the rare examples of a licensed game really embracing the style and themes of its namesake without adding a bunch of needless stuff on top. This game is very focused on being a good Mad Max experience for those who like the films (especially the second film).

Yes but it sadly did not get judged by these merits from the game journalists.

This game got only mediocre reviews.

No one who isn't out of his mind would give street fighter a bad rating for lack of diverse gameplay. But Mad Max got bad reviews cause of it. This is a Mad Max game. What else do you expect besides dust sand and some good old baam boom.

like you said. Mad Max basicly hits the nail on the head. It focuses on only a few but important things. But people seem to believe every open world game has to be like GTA.

Mad Max and sleeping dogs share the same fate. Everyone is waiting for GTA 6. But i am waiting for Mad Max 2 or Sleeping Dogs 2. I know it will never happen though :/

Because it does have a lot of tedium. Lots of repetition too. When you have those in a game, it's often because of bad design. Hence the low score.

But I do enjoy the game. :MMForFun:

I absolutely agree, it is indeed a hidden gem. To me though, it is more than that: A true surprise. I got the game the month it came out and I tried getting into it a few times over the years, but it never clicked with me.

Until March of 2020 when I got nothing to play and decided to give it one more chance. I can't believe it took me this long but this was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had with a video game. From start to finish, this game is a blast and I'm still playing it to this day, that's how much fun it is.

I recommend checking Whitelight's documentary on the game. This game is so underrated and underappreciated, it reminds me of Prey 2017 in this regard. Loved every second of it,

Mad Max makes me feel so nostalgic for some weird reason. I will defend this game till the frickin day I die.

Mad Max is one of those games that will often get dismissed for "not being innovative enough" and that is interesting because "innovation" has largely become a buzzword that is thoughtlessly tossed around without any real understanding of what it actually means.

While I won't argue that Mad Max is a great game, it is exactly what it needed to be in order to evoke the feeling of the material it is based on. I would argue that is a better thing than it being "innovative" for the sake of "innovation". It is a good game that does exactly what it needs to do.

I agree with all the points mentioned here. Another I'd add is that if you are a fan of open world games,, or the type to literally just wander through the map only to admire the intricate details, this game is PERFECT for that. Despite being a barren desert, the world is absolutely gorgeous and is not repetitive in any way. The enviro truly breathes. I just wish the NPCs were as vibrant and variant. AND THIS IS FOR A 2015 GAME.

I am absolutly not a fan of open world games. But in Mad Max i loved drive around. This game is pure eye candy. A true work of art.

i feel like the design of this game is great because they remove all the bs from the game that annoys the average player. it is very streamlined from that perspective and everything flows well and there's nothing that feels like it is wasting your time.

i can't say that it's popular or not popular. every player has their own taste, i finished the game many years ago and that's it :reexcited: it was fun
