Then switch to the amdgpu or radeonsi driver - either should work well for your card, though I think amdgpu has more advanced features (e.g. working Vulkan support etc.)

The PPA listed above however wouldn't install the 32bit libraries preventing steam from running. So these are the Ubuntu 16.04 standard mesa drivers.
