I am ignorant about this whole "spoiler" madness. I cannot get spoilt.
Basically because I am happy to know something about a product I'm gonna buy and play / watch / read.
I "spoil" myself much about movies, games, etc.
Simply as I want to know if I may like it and even progress through a game / story towards a specific point. Some games which I bought out of a knee-jerk reaction I didn't enjoy. Therefore, I rather do a research.
I also already knew that Chum dies, before I even finished the game.
But for sensitive people regarding spoilers:
Chum bucket, dustbin, trashcan, ...
Those are all words that have a similar meaning.
I don't think it has something to do with Spongebob rather with the meaning of the word.
No one knows why he has that name or why he is even fine with it (calling himself Chumbucket).
Chumbucket worked in Gastown as one of the best black fingers (mechanics). Which is the reason why he survived that long.
He even speaks about his time there, the first time you enter the dump.
Sounds like he had some privileges there.
I personally think he got that name as of his appearance.
The wasteland has no sense for ethics anymore and after a while I guess Chumbucket didn't even think about it as some sort of insult.
Especially because of how he sees his life and the meaning of his existence.
He has a special talent (not only as mechanic, but it was him who designed the Magnum Opus) and defines his life with a "sacred duty".
He only lives for his car.
Which is even more clear as he dies together with his invention in the end.
Basically that ending also defines the whole game as meaningless.
Chum dies with the new car and Max get his Interceptor back.
Then he drives off like the game started (without any followers this time), like everything will just be another bad memory for Max. XD
I am not sorry for enjoying my ignorance before, as there exists still no Steam rule that forces you to use that tag.
I just wrote, how I see Chumbucket with many details I could think of.
You are not obligated to read any response here.
Rather play the game. ;)

i like how pervy devs are.
Here, the OP asked a question about Chum out of curiosity and without showing interest in buying this game.
So I answered with a few facts that might be interesting for him / her, that represents my understanding of Chum.
Sorry, but I either haven't seen any Steam rules that force anyone to use the spoiler tag.
@Just Chill don't pander to these "Snowflakes" If they don't want to know what's in the game they shouldn't be on these type of posts.
ok "doc" thanks for coming up from mom's basement long enough to hit the reply button with some useless nonsense. It's not the response I expected, as growing up fishing, I know exactly what a "chumbucket " is used for: Trolling
As I said, there is no rule that forces you to use spoilers.
And still no "thank you" that I changed my post even if there was no real reason to do so.
Unfriendly...
Sorry, man, just chill yourself, Steam only shows responses right away. So, THANK YOU for fixing the spoilers tags in the main post for the next generation of Mad Max players.
Nor did I ever imply there was a rule, I literally just said it would be a nice thing and *I* got attacked.
Ok, right, *I'm* the triggered one.
We just posted our opinion about spoilers.
I simply don't get it.
Probably because I can enjoy the same piece of art a few times. Playing a game a few times or watching a movie a few times is nothing special for me, simply because I like good art.
It doesn't mind me if I know something about it, before I am able to enjoy it myself.
Therefore, I am very fine with my ignorance, simply as I see no reason why I should adapt the way I enjoy such art to fit the way others do it.
But thanks for acknowledging my changes.
Some people like surprises, some people read the last chapter of a book first I suppose.
Mad Max has no real reason to be replayed, but I still did it. Simply as I like the gameplay.
That's true. Yet, it's still no ones fault when those two different types of people meet each other in such a bad way.
This thread is not marked for spoilers sure. But the OP clearly asked a general question about chum, without saying anything that he doesn't want to get spoilt.
He just said that he has absolutely no expierence with the franchise and also showed no interest in changing anything at this fact.
He just asked if Chum has anything to do with Mr. Plankton's Chum Bucket from Spongebob.
I answered in an accurate way and haven't feared about spoiling the OP in any way.
Simply as the OP haven't stated anything about it, nor did he showed interest to expierence this franchise on his own.
Therefore I simply had no intention to mark spoilers and it still feels dumb for me that I did it now. XD
As I see no reason for that.
But hey, if people get upset because of something like that, I am gentle...
