Generic Xbox 360 controller doesn't work?

I just booted up this game and it seems great accept for one problem my generic Xbox 360 controller doesn't work! It is connected to the PC and it works with all my other games but is completely unresponsive in this one. Any ideas much appreciated.

Well I have been using an xboc 360 wireless and have had no issues at all. So it DOES work.. Maybe check your settings?

Sorry, but what specific settings should I check? it usually works for me in a plug and play fashion.

Mine works with this game. I have a wired Xbox360 controller, and it works just fine. Have you tried going into the settings / options and maybe switching on some option regarding your input? I'm just guessing - because I didn't have to do that, but... I see no other reason it wouldn't work - I've been using mine since I started :p

I was thinking it was fault of the game but actually I wanted to test it with something else so I booted up enter the gungeon and once again the controller didn't work. So their may be a problem with either the controller or software

Right problem solved. Was hearing a faint wearing sound in my house found the source and it was my Xbox for some reason when I fired up the controller it was connecting to the Xbox (even though I haven't used it in years) and communicating with that so ♥♥♥♥ my life thank you for all the suppprt

Oh good deal. Mine is unplugged, so I would have never thought of that. Good deal though, the Xbox control works very well for PC gaming in the games you just MUST have a controller for. Thanks for sharing the solution, by th way - because I'm sure you aren't the only one who will encounter this - and most people just never return to their thread with their solution once they fix it.
