How does hope get from Gutgash to Stank Gum, exactly?

I get the first mission from her' but the location is beyond the Jaw. I finally made it through, and decided to visit the area's Stronghold first. Well, lo and behold, Hope is there, instead of being in a cage in Gutgash's Stronghold. What?

I completed Hope's first mission anyway, and now the marker with her next mission in is Gastown (I assume I'll see her when I get there). I suppose that if I didn't visit Pink Eye and went for the Northern Pipe first, Hope would still be at Gutgash's? Is there a cinematic at the start of the second mission where Max helps her escape? Is it ever talked about when I get to her at Gastown?

Oh, and no end game spoilers, pls. I already read too much looking this up on Google.

So completing her Wasteland mission before going to Pink Eye makes no difference?

It's just super weird, because she just teleports to Stank Gum after sitting in Gutgash's cage for ages.

uh what? No she didn't. She was sold by Gutgash (he mentions it when you see him after she disappeared from the cell and you walk up to him...IIRC the third or fourth time after that)

The disappearing happens a long time after you tried to talk to her and got thrown out. After a couple missions the room is unlocked and you can walk in but she isn't there.

But the transport got intercepted by Buzzards (which she tells you). I'm not entirely sure how she got away from them but...she did [I'm pretty sure she tells Max how she got away but I missed it].

From what I remember she asked Max for the fan...he threw it on the ground right before leaving...it's shown on the ground in the cinematic...you sure Gutgash said 'sold' and not 'bought'? or Gutgash said 'sold to him'

If he did 'sell' her, then how did she give Glory to the 'old man' that was supposed to hide her in the dunes.
I'm pretty sure Hope escaped made it to the Dunes gave Hope too the 'old man' then sometime after got captured by Buzzards.

I remember the fan, then the door to her room was locked for a while. Then it was open, and when I entered, Hope was talking to Glory about what will happen to them (something about them being taken to Gastown, I guess, I don't remember exactly). She stayed there until I got through the Jaw and to Pink Eye, where she appears in the cinematic in the end of the siege mission.

I guess that means she disappears from Gutgash right after I breach the Jaw? I never went back to his Stronghold between the Jaw and first Pink Eye mission. I went back later, and Max asks about Hope. Gutgash says like two lines about how Glory escaped and something about a "deal" for the "concubine".

And when I visited Hope in Gastown (haven't entered the Race yet), she doesn't say or explain anything about how she got there, just asked me about the last mission she gave me, and then gave me another one. Said something about "her always being a prize". The stuff with Buzzards is what happened to her before she met Max.

Anyway, I guess the pieces are all there, but it still was presented in a weird way.

Oh yeah...the Buzzards attacking the War Rig....I forgot about that and the cinematic at Pink Eye's....makes sense now.
