The last level [spoilers]
I'm talking about the very last mission, where you have to switch between Harnakon and your character.

What utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's completely unenjoyable. I got killed halfway through simply because it's hard to focus on two different situations at once.

You don't even get any time to familiarise yourself with the spells, you're just thrown into the fight. On top of that, I'm playing on a controller, so I'm forced to switch to keyboard every 2 minutes. It's not fun.

The game so far has been excellent, and definitely one of my favourite releases this year. The last level though just ruins everything. I can't be the only one who thinks this?

I agree it's tough and out of place. I personally have not yet completed it, however, I think I know how I can now... because the last time I played I simply didn't switch. I spent a bunch of time learning Harnakon's spells, and strategy. I essentially spent 30+ minutes playing just the one guy; and now that I have I think my next attempt will be much easier as I now know how to correctly defend against all the elves.

Some of the mistakes I learnt I was doing:
- Proper resource management, not spamming too many skills un-neccesarily.
- The arcane cloud just obliterates the rangers/mages, but you can't spam it, as it can hurt your own minions as well.
- Use the first 300 green essences on healers, use the ice blocks to create some safe zones.
- Your minions follow you, so always end each round near the healers so everyone gets healed up
- I put skele archers and mages up on the platforms with one healer, and two healers on the ground behind ice crystals.
- Certain enemies have better defences then others for different types; Like the axes work better for the ents, and the sword works great on the elves. I found the ice bolt works great against the dragons, since it slows them down making them easier targets for the mages/archers/myself.

I still have not completed it, however I feel like my next attempt will be either the final, or damn near the final one.

I'v put 30+ hours into the game so far, so I really don't mind putting in a few extra for this "event".

I mean I got to the final boss on my first attempt, I just found it really unenjoyable to be forced to switch between the two.
It really puts me off playing the game actually, I might not finish it... especially since when you die, you go back right to the start, losing 20+ min of progress.

Really? I completed it on my second try once I learned the ropes during my first try. I managed to complete it before any real difficult waves spawned. All I did was focus on making a couple of each unit and spammed the arcane skull attack while my character rushed through the elven village, slaughtering everyone with my corrosion bow and skipping the trent enemies.
I found the section to be a neat change of pace, though I thought it was too easy. On Hard++, of course.

I managed to complete it in two attempts on normal, with the first attempt ending with Harnakon's death.

I totally, totally agree with you on it being out of place. You really do get thrown in, plus I had to remap the hotkeys for Harnakon when I got to the fight. The whole pressing F9 to swap characters thing was horrible for me using a controller. Not to mention my laptop apparently requires me to hold shift before pressing it, for some odd reason.

But, to be honest, I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. It was an exciting final area, with a twist to prevent it from being a boring "oh no it's the big thing" kind of encounter.

Main reason I died the first time is because I took too long, I was horribly swarmed and killed from the harder waves coming so often. Your best bet is to rush it with your character to avoid reaching the hard waves. Also abuse the fire breath spell as Harnakon, you can slaughter all of the mages and archers in one or two blasts.

I completed on Hard++ 2nd try, because the first try I did not realize how utterly weak Harnakon was and I ran him into a army of trees.
2nd time around I let my armors tank, put my mages/skeletons on the first ledge and healers up on that tiny ledge
RUSH for healers... makes all the difference, Arcane cloud was mentioned and that is your best friend.. first like 3-5 is just melee/mage/archers which can die in 2 clouds .. so swap over nuke twice and swap back ...
When trees/gryphons come.. get your axe out and jump at the trees (in their damage range) then turn around mid air .. this will cause you to get knocked back BEHIND them while your armors are tanking them.. hack away at the trees.... jump slash the gryphons... it never got harder than that other than the catapults but .. since the frail units are up on that ledge they never get hurt....

Honestly my biggest complaint isn't about that .. was the fact that the Elves were a JOKE and the final "BOSS" ..... ugh........the platforming to get to him was harder, thank god for Alternation portals.

My prime complaint is fighting Corvax. Bosses that teleport spam are not fun. That is all.

I have to agree,I felt ashamed of being forced to such end.I do get the need of a twist in the story, but to control manage 2 seperated characters? NO GOD PLEASE NO.When you think about it,what on earth does this system in the end have ANYTHING to do with Castlevania,or Maze of Galious? Nothing, the developer literally brought this out of nowhere, only to tear you even more with a non-exciting ending and later force you to write on the forums that the end was good.Personally,I feel like Fran only wanted to troll everyone for their hard work when they reach to the end...

I'm using controller too, so I'm agreed have to switch between keyboard is dump. dev should let us change "F9" to some other keypad button. i'll be much happier. also I think final boss(boss elf mage) is a bit... too soft..? corrosive bow + rebounding magic and he's so dead.
and if you wanna rush, I recommend rebounding magic and 20 speed potions will do you good :)

I've given up trying to complete the village on Hard++ mode. I'm not a natural platformer and normally don't play games like this but I got it in a bundle and the storyline grabbed and held me. My first play through was on Easy and the only way I completed the end game then was because I used invisibility, speed and portals to rush through the village ignoring all the smaller enemies till I got to the two birds and then Corvax. My second play through was on Hard++ mode, got all the way to the village but now can't complete it to get the last two challenges, I can't even get to the second wave of elves or into the trees in the village. I'll most likely play it again on a lower difficulty because I really like the story but I'm never gonna be able to do the end like its supposed to be done.

Utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ending to what in the latter half of the game proved to be utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in general: Unenjoyable and seeming to make a chore out of the gameplay for its own sake.
