You can, link the same weapons under how many manufacturers you want, thus allowing variations for the same weapon mesh.
Just make the models with the same name and 'Mark II' etc. behind.
Do note that the game randomizes their spawning according the vendor's specifications. Some vendors will never get higher tier weapons. Spawn on characters depends on the weapons grade of their character profile.
Do also note, that the vendor systems have designed around the vanilla grades, so you will have to make your own vendor and character set ups if you want your items to spawn automatically.
Basically any manufacturer can be picked, so it seems. I have never witnessed this myself, as I have only ever made one set of weapons, but this is what the 'big boys' are telling me XD. Apparently it cannot be turned off.
Logic says only the weapons listed under a manufacturer should ever be using the textures listed on models. Sometimes Kenshi has its own set of logic rules.
