Usually when FCS says "Files must be somewhere in the game data directory or in your mod directory" it means you're trying to cross referencing to a file that exist outside your current mod directory ie. you're currently editing "mod 1" but trying to refer to a file that exist in "mod 2" folder.
Solution: either copy the mesh file from "mod 2" folder into "mod 1" that you are currently working on OR enable both mod in FCS and set "mod 1" to be "active" when editing "mod 1".
First solution makes "mod 1" independent from "mod 2" so it can be enabled independently in game. The second option will make "mod 1" dependent on "mod 2" so if you want to enable "mod 1" in game, you must also enable "mod 2".
not sure what other kinda information i could give to help.
When you're trying to add the mesh in FCS did you type in the location manually or did you browse by pressing the "..." button?
Sometimes FCS/Kenshi can be a stickler when it comes to directory/folder structure and it prefer certain files to be located in a specific folder but I don't think that could be the reason tho.
