FCS says mesh file is not in right directory?
hey guys. ive been browsing the steam community for a half hour now. but cant find a solution to my problem that worked for me. basically FCS is giving me an error saying that my mesh file is not in the mod directory or game directory which isnt true. fcs has never given me this issue before so im just not sure what to do about it.

i saw this other thread https://steamcommunity.com/app/233860/discussions/3/133259227513596823/ and its asking about a similair thing but nothing there helped me fix this problem so im now im just kinda stuck.

Do you mind sharing more info on what you're working on? Are you editing vanilla item/armor/weapon in FCS or are you modifying a third party mod?

Usually when FCS says "Files must be somewhere in the game data directory or in your mod directory" it means you're trying to cross referencing to a file that exist outside your current mod directory ie. you're currently editing "mod 1" but trying to refer to a file that exist in "mod 2" folder.

Solution: either copy the mesh file from "mod 2" folder into "mod 1" that you are currently working on OR enable both mod in FCS and set "mod 1" to be "active" when editing "mod 1".

First solution makes "mod 1" independent from "mod 2" so it can be enabled independently in game. The second option will make "mod 1" dependent on "mod 2" so if you want to enable "mod 1" in game, you must also enable "mod 2".

If you've placed the mesh file in the mod folder of the mod that you are currently editing and FCS is still giving that error message, that is odd indeed. I've never had it happen to me before other than when I'm trying to cross referencing files in other folders.

When you're trying to add the mesh in FCS did you type in the location manually or did you browse by pressing the "..." button?

Sometimes FCS/Kenshi can be a stickler when it comes to directory/folder structure and it prefer certain files to be located in a specific folder but I don't think that could be the reason tho.
