[MOD] Hiver Mod
I am planning on modding Hivers, ESPECIALLY the heavies. I would like input from Hive users as to what they think would balance them a bit more to bring them up to the other races. I am happy to mod any of the other hivers as well. But remember I will be trying to keep balance in mind.

I have officialy made a mod and Erei is making one also. Mine will focus on stats and his will focus on making face armour available.

I already started :D
I personally think both the hive soldier and skeleton should have some head protection. Right now, a good hit to the head and they are down, no matter the stats/armour, it's all down to luck.

Right now, I'm thinking enabling some hats for the soldiers (essentially unlocking the slot, but only allowing them to use a selection of thats that look properly on them), and a natural armour for heads only on the skeletons.

I do not believe that helmets are wearable on hivers due to their head shape. I think instead head health should be above all over health.

They are wearable. At least the open one. Tried with an iron hat and it looked just fine. Fairly certain it can be extended to straw hats and maybe some others. But iron hat is a fine helmet. There is better, ofc, but it's sufficient.
Closed helmet like the police helmet are obviously ridiculous.

Also I would be wishing to respect the developers designs as much as I can, if natural armour worked they probably be more balanced. But as far as I seen and known it does not.

Also I think you should do a mod for that, the helmets and such. Maybe I do my one just for hivers and balancing them out a bit more.

Are you sure natural armor doesn't work ? Well if that's true, then enabling a limited selection of hats is the way to go for hivers. And skeleton will stay as they are.

Erei I answered this on the other thread but last I checked natural armor doesn't work. I think we should ping Hatsune and Shidan to see if they might know, there are always FCS changes going through in patches and what not.

Looking forward to tophats on my soldier drones.

A good idea would be to crank it up and see the difference between it low and high. If there is no change then its not working, if there is change then its functional.

Right now I'm checking which helmet works and which doesn't. I've added some natural armor to skeleton, if later on it works, then fine. But that's entirely secondary.

So, the helmets I've found to be wearable are :
-straw hat (looks perfect)
-rattan hat
-iron hat
-tricorn (looks funny since it's a triangle shaped helmet on a triangle shaped head, so it kinda look like a star from above)

everything else looks like crap. Except for the ashland hat, which look very funny (because of the goggles), but it's clipping.

I bet the tricorn looks like a pirate hat on an Ork warboss from 40k. How glorious.

The mod is ready, but I got to sleep, I'll upload it tomorrow.

Face Plates in the belt slot could toughen Soldiers up somewhat and there's no horrible clipping because face plates are visually placed lower head/jaw.

Here's copy/pasta I wrote in different sub-forum about the subject

Opening up the belt slot to Armored Face Plates toughens up Soldier Drones somewhat and the clipping isn't all that horrible as the face plates are positioned on lower head/jaw.

=)

I was thinking of just a stat upgrade for them, I was thinking something like 150 in all but head head being 175. Just so they are the same old hive soldiers but take a better beating.

But by the looks just be a personal mod for me unless there are people who prefer stat change version.

Testing it atm, wanna make sure its not too op or underpowered, also seeing if adding toughness as a good earning stat is good for them.

Edit: Atm seems the head is for sure their weakest point still. Ok well I dropped the amount of chance it gets hit and they seem to now stay up almost as long as humans and shek now. They will still take big hits to the head just less often. When I test its 3 end game characters in stats against the Shek HQ guards.

Update Edit: Now testing belt slot item for use of head armour. Its a real pain atm trying to use other slots atm, see if I can get anything to work. I still not found any way of adding them to belt slot succesfully, yes it takes up 2 by 2 and yes belt is the selected slot.

Just fiddled with natural armour and added that in. Not sure yet if its made much of a change or did anything at all. But I found that Shek are the only ones that have it in vanilla.

Also with reference to that you can add Race Exclusions that make it so they cannot wear them I assume. That may be helpful in preventing people wearing the ones that don't suit.

With regards to mine its pretty much done, just might need some fine tuning. Feels like they are at least viable now. Head health is at 175, the other parts 150. Starts with 50 Blood and goes to 75 making them even harder to bleed out with the katana. Not uploaded yet.

Ok my version is released. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1151926274

Hope yours goes well too Erie.

I'll post mine soon, but later on I think I'll add some invisible helmet for the skeleton.
