Japanese Translation Feedback (日本語翻訳)

[Koomatzu]

After some mixed feedback during Tokyo Game Show, we’re currently trying to improve the Japanese translation for Kenshi and would like to know player’s feedback.

Does the translation make sense to you? Are there any irregularities? (E.g. Deadcat: '猫の死体'). Or is the dialogue perfect, no further improvements needed? is the tone too formal? Please give examples, the more details you can give, the more we can improve it.

昨日までスプレッドシートに記入してあったこれまで出た会話部分の指摘点は、のちほど「dialogues」のシートに追加します。（main.poの部分は追加済み）

Thanks a lot! But...

The only clear improvement is that LIMBS and EGG have been translated.
Most of the feedback in this thread is not reflected.
Many simple typographical errors and omissions do not seem to be self-checked.

What does Mogi-translation say?
Are they saying it is perfect fixed?
Are you not deceived by them?

I have no complaints about Lo-Fi Games. Thank you for the great game.
I doubt that MoGi-translation uses that you do not understand Japanese for loaf on the job...

However, there are quite a few parts where translations that have been fully completed have become weird

The translation version closer to my ideal is 1.0.22

Lots of typos on the translation can be still seen and our feedback is not reflected on the game it seems. Also the new translation of Farm Trader and Beast Trader is out right ridiculous "畑の商人" and "ビーストの商人"　？？？？　wtf??? "畑" is plot of land and does not refer to produce and "ビースト" is not even a japanese translation/ it's just a Katakana writing of english word, "Beast".
If I were them I would just write "農作物商" and　”家畜商”　and done with it.

Seriously, your game deserve better translator.
Don't let your fantastic game ruined by sloppy unprofessional translator.

Speaking of which, in this update, Raid name was translated into Japanese.
It may be because I am used to the previous situation, but I felt this very strange.

The impressions we receive from "Warning: Retribution Of God moving towards Your Outpost" and "警告: 天罰がプレイヤーの拠点へ進行中" are quite different.
It can be understood that "Retribution Of God" is a special squad of that name.
However, in the case of the notation "天罰", I really wonder if the paranormal phenomenon will attack my outpost.

Raid name might not be a problem in the remains of English.

先週告知したバージョン1.0.27の日本語改良版アップデートですが、データをマージする際にファイルが壊れていた事が判明いたしましたので、一旦バージョン1.0.22に戻します。現在、修正に向け作業を進めておりますが,　校正を担当されている方との調整の都合もあり、少々時間がかかるかもしれません。修正が完了致しましたら、また告知させて頂きますのでもう少々お待ちください。

Thank you for spending a lot of time for the Japanese players.
I have recorded many typos for v1.0.22, but they may have already been fixed, so I will wait for the next update without listing them.

Translation of "武具専門店[armoury]" is clear mistranslation.
”武具専門店" means "Weapon shop"
Many Japanese who misunderstood visit it.(and arrested...)
You should use"武器庫"or"工廠".
So same as a "Lost armoury"="失われた武器庫"or"Armoury ruin"="工廠跡"
Please investigate that.

"General Storage Boxes"と"General Storage Chest"が両方とも"万能保管箱"と訳されていますが、訳を分けた方がいいのではないでしょうか。おそらくそれが原因で、建築メニューでその2つをクリックしたときに混同されることがあります(英語版だと起きません)。
また、"Thief Training Boxes"シリーズが"ピッキング練習箱"と訳されてますが、これだとピッキングスキルのトレーニング器具だと誤解を招くので、窃盗練習箱にでもした方がいいのではないでしょうか。

"破棄"は"アイテムを失う"と感じる場合があります。
[アイテムを収納]または[アイテムを保管]の方が分かりやすいと思います。

The translation of the item name [Raw Iron] is [銑鉄], but the description of the explanatory note and storage container is [鉄鉱石].
Because it is confusing, please unify the name.
(In Japanese games [鉄鉱石] is common)

There is an item "アイテムを破棄" in the AI setting.
"破棄" may feel "losing items".
I think that it is more straightforward to store アイテムを収納] or [アイテムを保管].

からすると銑鉄表示はあり得る表示のようにも思います。
ただ鉄鉱石から一回溶かして作られる鉄鋼や鋳鉄の材料。としての鉄ですから
ゲーム内にて銑鉄から鉄鋼への製鋼行為が無いのならば鉄鉱石表示に統一しても良いと
思いますが。
