The Town Of MOURN is Broken.(updated)
It is owned and controlled by the tech hunters. It is chock full of mining and other powered structures and its walls are lined with harpoons. But this town has not one single solitary source of power. Nothing in the entire town is usable. Was this intentional or was it a design oversight. Im thinking it was an oversight, because even if the place is a ruin(which it isnt) why would a bunch of powered equipment be built all over the town but no power source was built or even a ruin of a power source left behind.

Im assuming this was an oversight in development.

Because there is no power to the harpoons, the town is undefended and could be easily wiped out by a wandering elder beak thing which are often wandering nearby the town.

EDIT: More issues with the town..

At the Ancient Lab in town there are items on the ground that are not "red" as in items that would not belong to someone that are free for the taking. And there is a powerful monster in the lab, but due to obstructions his pathing is messed and I can easily walk around him and loot the place.

However.. the items I take, even though they are grayed and not actually owned by anyone, they say in their desctription that they are owned by the monster in the lab, and if I try to sell the items at the stores in MOURN it says the items are stolen and that I am attempting to fence the items and if I get caught the people attack me and call me a thief.

mourn is the remnants of a united cities slave city. it is an inhabited ruin. the barkeep will tell you this if you ask about it. its now just a rest stop for travellers. yeah, its undefended. but as far as towns go, it is really only 1 step above the hub.

when the slaves rebelled, things were destroyed. the power generators could have been in one of the broken buildings. although i supposed they do have electric lights, so that is odd.

You didnt read what i said, even if it is a ruins, there are no ruined power sources. Even the hub has ruined wind generators even though it has nothing there that uses or used power at all. therefore, its a developer oversight in the design of the town.

I did read it. I said it was odd that they had electric light without a power source. So you’re the one that didn’t read what I wrote.

I just gave a possible explanation as to how an oversight could have happened.

Also: talk to the barman. He will tell you not to go into the old faction hq. If you sell things from the old faction hq, you are showing that you went into a locked building that they REALLY didn’t want you to unlock.

The items are listed as belonging to the ape because he is assigned as the sole resident of that building. It isn’t an oversight, it’s just the way the game works. Maybe they could and should be red though. I’ve never really taken a close look at ownership rules in the editor though. I know that isn’t the only instance of a buildings items not being red when they should. A prime example is the storage building of holy farms. This may be an oversight or a result of the game not being able to assign ownership if there is no resident to own them. I’ll try to remember to take a look at it.

If you buy a building in Mourn & build a Wind Generator, it will power up the town.
Teralitha Jul 24, 2019 @ 12:24pm
Where are you placing the wind gen?
Faerador Jul 25, 2019 @ 6:02pm
You need the "Small Wind Generator," which can be built on building rooftops.

ahh. i suppose you buy the materials at the store there.

I too am somewhat dissatisfied with Mourn's construction as well, and that's not going to be the only instance where you're going to pick up items that shouldn't be set to "owned," but when you go to stack them in your inventory, you'll indeed find that they were stolen goods and owned by someone. The inconsistency gets really frustrating. At one location you're meant to loot, there are 5 houses near each other for you to loot. Strangely, however, 2 of the houses are marked as owned so the stuff you take is "stolen" while the other 3 houses can be looted with no consequence. Yet, it's all the same property, owned by the same faction. Lack of attention to detail seems to be a trademark.
