[0.98.55/62] UI mods not working
Hi,

I am unable to get the mods "Dark UI" or "Better Map Latest Release" to work (or any map mods for that matter, have tried several). The mods are enabled in the launcher and i get no error messages, but the built-in assets are still used.
If I manually overwrite data/gui/gfx/GUI_Map.dds with the one from the Better Map mod then it works, but I have not been able to get it to load from the mod folder.
I have the same issue with both stable and experimental versions.

Below is a link to kenshi.log file launching kenshi stable with only the Better Map mod enabled:
kenshi.log zip @ Google Drive[drive.google.com]

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dark UI stopped working for me a while back & I was never able to get it to work again.

Luckily I found the mod below & prefer it as it's more in keeping with the game I believe so I haven't tried the old one since.

As for the map mod, likely the same problem I had but never tried a map mod to be sure.

Thanks for the suggestion :)
I just tried the DARK Vanilla UI mod, and I have the same problem with that one.

I have yet to find a GUI mod that has worked for me. Other mods, like Extended Campsite and alternative start ones has worked just fine.

I know it is a necro, but did you ever got UI mods to work? I have the same or similar issue:
- Any changes a mod does to the UI do not work.
- Anything else seems to work.
(all mods show as active both in launcher and in ingame dialog)

For example using the Food Cube mod the food cubes have the new size, but only a placeholder as icon.

For the Foodcube mod try redowload it, had the same problem, the creator said something he placed the icon in wrong map and have fixed it. so should work now if were thinkin same mod.

I worked around the issue by moving Kenshi from a secondary disk drive to my C: drive. Don't know if this is relevant to your case.

Thank you for your replies, especially for the link.

I just saw, for the very first time, some nice new UI elements (e.g. a nicer map) by doing the following

1. Copied Kenshi for testing into C:\Test
2. Moved all mods from the steam workshop directory into the mod folder under that folder
3. Renamed the mod folder name from the steam ID to the mod name

Without step 3, the mods did not even show in the launcher, after step 3 it worked (I tested with darkUI and a better map mod).

Interestingly, the log messages in my log are slightly different than the ones you mentioned in your post. For you, it always showed relative paths, for me it uses absolute ones in the non-working steam version:

On the example of the map mod, the working version resulted in these log lines
19:56:15: Added resource location 'mods/Nice Map [Zones + Zone names + Roads]\gui\gfx' of type 'FileSystem' to resource group 'GUI'

The non-working version showed like this instead
19:54:09: Added resource location 'C:\Users\Riksis\Games\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\233860\1613829988\gui\gfx' of type 'FileSystem' to resource group 'General'

Interestingly, the usual location for steam games on my system is c:\Users\Riksis\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\. However, I have a different ssd mounted into c:\Users\Riksis\Games, thus steam is on a different file system than the remainder of system, despite having the same Windows drive letter.

Of course, I don't want to rename all the mod directories, but you gave me some hope again. If I have some time at the weekend I'll play a bit with that issue :)

Best regards
Riksis

Thanks for confirming.
I also have my second drive mounted under C:, the game just does weird things when the game is on a different drive i guess.

I moved the game using the Steam client, so workshop mods still works for me. You can have multiple game locations in steam.
