Shop/building interaction guy not there/spawning?

C'mon police, I've got a big bounty, where you at ;_;

Is there a way to cause them to reappear? I've had a few shopkeepers go missing, meaning I can't interact with the building.

Shop keepers are as vulnerable as anyone to getting caught up in something and killed. Also, they've got a nasty habit of being lazy and sleeping away the day, typically you can see them on top of the shop.
Some do, however, have beds inside the store meaning you're likely going to have to break in either way to kick `em out of bed.

As for the Police Chief...
I am ready to nail that ****ards feet to the floor. Lost count of the number of times he scurries off to chase something across the map. There really needs to be a Jailer or Bailiff to stick around and make sure time gets served.
And we get paid :)

The only way to get the missing shopkeepers back is to import your game.

I had a similar prob yesterday in Mongrel (because of endless waves of fogmen swarmers to the nearest cages). Near the guardhouse there is a general shop, and well guess what, after the first few waves the shopkeeper with his guard went missing :> BUT, a few days later, when I almost lost all hope to see em again, after relaunching the game - by the blessing of Narko no less - he stood there, alive and able to trade :)

I started a new game last night, just outside Heng I stupidly started mining an iron ore within yards of some skimmers hidden in the sand. At night time they came up for air to patrol, after a few back & forths they attacked me. I managed to get up, drop a sleeping bag & jump in it. This fight, heal, sleep routine went on for days, luckily I got up everytime.
Then after a few days I saw some guy run over from Heng & start attacking all the skimmers, he went down after taking out about 6 skimmers.... Police Chief lol.
No idea what the hell he was doing so far from his station.
