Real Time Combat...
I am not a big fan of RT combat. A game like this would probably get more interesting if it were turn based, or at the very least a hybrid (like Baldur's Gate). The more people you have, the more you have to rely on potentially faulty AI, and faulty AI is always something that gets harped on in cirtical reviews. AI can be faulty in Turn Based, true, but only enemy AI, so you don't feel like your own guys are total idiots and die because they can't get around an obstacle while someone hacks them to death from behind. At this point... is it too late to consider Turn based or hybrid Turn Based combat (a la X-Com 2012?). If this were Turn Based I would have already bought it. I just have bad experiences with indie Real Time combat. Krater was okay but had serious issues. With Turn based combat you can also allow for more detailed strategies by the player rather than just "select all" and zerg the enemy, which I understand wont' work well at the start when everything out there is more powerful than you.

it has a "real-time with pause" battle system according to the homepage, that's basicaly the same as what you are talking about

Well, let's hope that's enough. :) pause, issue commands, then unpause see how things go... pause... etc.

yeah, only difference between this and baldurs gate/dragon age/whatever is that there are dicerolls in those games, units are standing like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waiting for their turn to hit,in this game everything happens in real time

I need to try the 'demo'. I want this game based on what I've seen, but the real time combat has given me a bit of hesitation. It could work if the AI is done well. I won't expect much in an alpha, of course, but the look is right, this feudal Japan meets post-apocalypse Trigun universe just looks really nifty. All I can say is "Get the AI right" and watch for memory leaks...heh. I'm sure a lot of other cool ideas will make it into the game but the basics are looking amazing. Well there are 'dice rolls' in these games as well they're just quicker? Maybe the system is based on comparison of stats but there is always a random element otherwise every fight is a forgone conclusion (every one on one, just standing there trading hits: i.e. eliminate tactics). I like randomness because it reflects that foot slipping in loose ground causing an otherwise skilled swordsman to miss even a perfectly lined up strike, and allowing his opponent an opening... if he sees it and reacts quickly (his stats and the luck of the draw... did he see it? or was he focused elsewhere by chance?). So chance is part of any good simulation. I guess only the devs really know what's under the hood in a fight. I can only make uneducated guesses.

You're asking for a drastic change that's a personal preference.
If you can justify this happening, anyone else can justify it being reversed.
One big thing you weren't aware of is that the devs would expect lots of refund requests.

I can see a mod that involves turn based kenshi with large squads of 30+ units. Otherwise yeah, it's just personal preference for everyone. Some people may actually prefer Kenshi real time first person.
