Does Genesis mod screw with changing world states?
Just trying to play the game again, love it in principle, grind my teeth in actual practice. I've been doing a small squad, as I do not enjoy the base building, and have tried several times to flip towns by kidnapping characters. But I've yet to have anything change save the united cities stone mine (which is now ruins). I've kidnapped Ruben, Tengu and inquisitor Seta, killed the first two and sold the last, but their towns haven't changed in the slightest.
The only thing I can think, is that Genesis mod (which I know is a big collection of mods) might have broken something or added criteria to flipping cities. Can anyone confirm if this is the case?

Dunno about Genesis - seemed like too much of an overhaul to me, but Living World is playing great in this playthrough and expands those worldstates/overrides:

Genesis touches to pretty much every aspect of the game, including world state.

I don't know about that precise situation and I stopped using Genesis a long time ago as it doesn't play well with other mods, but changing world state criterias is indeed one of Genesis features.

Edit: Love the clown award little Drakey, have an hilarious one ^^
Your answer is basically "I don't know, but check this unrelated mod that will break your game if used with Genesis", hence the clown award you deserved ;)

Genesis overrides so much I wouldn't be surprised if it overrode world states. Genesis is just one big amalgamation of random mods. I'd suggest only downloading the mods you want from it instead of using the Genesis overhaul. You'll run into far less mod conflicts and run less of a risk of using mods that have unlisted features which the Kenshi workshop seems to be notorious for.

As for world states, the Wiki should show what conditions need to be met for which overrides to occur and what overrides there are.

Thank you for the help everyone, but I hit the wall I usually do in Kenshi and have stopped again for now. It's the grind for gear to go with stats, which led me to have a mining base because I couldn't refine in town, which led to the base turning out to be on a dust bandit spawn, which led to endless raids when there was nothing there... yeah, that's why I stopped trying to have a base in this game. But roaming the wilds just felt too aimless without a goal to set myself.
I'll probably try again in another few months.
