Am I stupid or is strength?
I've heard of 3 main ways to train strength, one is to overload your character, pick someone up and run around for hours of real time. That's boring and slow.

Second is to use a weapon 20 levels higher than your current strength level and fight stuff, that's also boring and slow, as you can easily get stunlocked and not actually be able to attack anything.

Third is to overload your character and use martial arts, which is supposedly the fastest way but I can't even get my guy to attack, he just gets stunlocked by a single enemy.

Getting to 50-55 is fine but after that I feel like I've hit a wall. I'm even using 2X exp mod, so I can't imagine how much worse it is in vanilla. I really don't want to use the first method but I can't get the other two to work, and I certainly don't want to do the skeleton bed method. Am I just doing something wrong? Is there some easy way to get this to work that I'm missing or is strength training just all round awful?

It's your impations. ;-)

But seriously. If you are not shy using mods, then you can remove your 2x exp mod and install a cool gym mod instead.

Well strength is one of the most frustrating skills to reach very high without mods. I have not thought up a overpowered way to reach that high fast, at least 99 or even 100.

I'd be cool with even just 70 or 80 but my god it's slow. I hope they fix this in the second game. >.<

I use this, you get to be productive and train strength. Also handy in enslaved situations.

my Squadmates tend to be around 80-90 strength with this mod, still takes a while though.

I've just beein doing the 'put a heavy backpack full of ore in inventory, grab a starving bandit body, and set up a run between Hub and Squin' route after basic athletics and stealth training and waiting for their turn in toughness boot camp. If there's danger they can drop the backpack and body and outrun pretty much any aggressives in that region. Once that combo isn't providing enough weight, add a second backpack of ore and other junk. When that isn't enough? People called me crazy for keeping a backpack full of old generator cores. CRAZY! Well, who's crazy now?!?

Walking around while overloaded is the easiest way to train, if you aren't in a rush. I sometimes have characters walk laps from city to city, using the map to order them around while my other people are off having adventures elsewhere. I just have to bring the camera over every now and then to organise food.

If you are in a rush, then Martial Arts would perhaps be the fastest option, outside of game editors and cheat mods. Although the answer is still something of an exploit: go recruit some random nobody, lock him in a house with your fighter, put him in Block mode and then dismiss. That character will stay in Block mode until you reload a save.

Normally characters have a random chance to pick the wrong angle when blocking attacks, but any angle works against Martial Arts, so a character in Block mode is effectively immune and won't need healing (regardless of his actual defensive skill level - although for the sake of the Stronger Opponent Logic system it doesn't hurt to powerlevel that a bit before you begin, eg by fighting guards and continuously tapping R). Such a target also won't fight back, so your fighter will be safe too. Build a General Chest near a wall, and arrange matters so the target gets pushed up on top of that. He won't be pushed around any further, meaning he won't ever stop blocking to move because he decides he's too far out of position.

Overloading is obviously important - aim for 100%. If you're using organic limbs then in particular you'll want to choose between Assassin's Rags or Crab Armour to slow the rate at which they take damage.

MA and Dex will train faster than Str and Tgh, but I guess you would have everything at around 80 within a few hours. Or maybe even one, with your double XP mod.

You do not even have to remove the 2x mod XD

Mod comments report crashes, is it due to the mod or some kind of conflict? The game is already unstable at the best of times, I try to avoid anything that's going to make it worse.

70 or 80 is not a problem just some patience. When I play character I want at least 95 as absolute minimum. Now I use strength training mod so I don't need to repeat the same training again since I have done it in the past.

the best way is to equip heavy gear in low stats and keep them full of loot from bodies for catz,

guaranteed strenght, and when they inevitably fail in combat, they can carry their comrades for the %50 xp rate back to a waypoint/city. lots of passive xp

Generator Cores and bodies. edit; and other heavy stuff in a backpack

Easy to do, but it's all about the mindset *taps temple* and if you have a posse.

I've found it easier to achieve if you have a few training strength, and the rest of the posse is moving around trading / exploring etc. They all move together, even the non-strength training crew can carry a body to up their strength.

Or just use a mod... hell it's nearly 2025... just a use a mod 8)

Here's something I do to build up stealth, but strength would work as well. Not sure how practical it is for you and your faction, but it's an idea. It obviously requires some money, materials and some technological advances.

I buy three buildings in a town. In one building I put in raw material storage. In another building I put in finished product storage, and in a third building I put the production machine. This works best if the buildings are as spread apart as far as possible. Then I set up a manufacturing chain with the character, so the character needs to run between the three buildings to make cloth or food or something. If I want to work stealth I set them to stealth, If I want to work strength, I overload them.

While they're doing that, I spend my time working on my base, or running around with my other characters. Come back after a bit and my character's skill has gone way up. Buy bigger buildings with more machines/storage and you can develop many characters at the same time.

I's easy to reach 80 that way. But at 95+ it would take days real time. For the 100 strength probably weeks or months while afk real time?

I like 95 strength because Bugmaster has it so equal or better then :) Also it lets you to use good meitou blunt weapons, though some of them you still want artifical arms regardless.

And there seems to be a risk for character being stuck in some building wall when afk. Your method seems a more safe way to never become stuck.

This actually seems like a really cool way to do it without save editing or using mods. I'll try this out.
