polearm affected by strength and dex, or just dex?
The regular polearm, the one that does about half blunt damage and half cut damage, would its damage AND attack speed be affected by both str and dex? Scaled by the amount of damage on each?

Im wondering since trying to figure the best armor to use it with. If only dex affects it then probably samurai armor I guess. But if both stats affect, meaning dex penatlies only affects it about half, then that opens up other possibilities.

(Note about Manufacturers. Ancient and Scrapmasters can result in requirements potentially seeming wrong. Base weight does NOT care about manufacturer modifiers for strength requirements, so the -30% weight of Ancient doesn't make the weapons any easier to use. Likewise the +20% weight of scrapmasters has no effect on this either. However the +20% blunt damage of Scrapmasters DOES change the strength requirements compared to Homemade as it increases the blunt damage which can potentially increase the strength requirements if the weapon has enough blunt damage to change anything from an extra 20%.).

If it has blunt damage it's requirement is either 40x blunt or its base weight, whichever is higher. (a Foreign Sabre requires 8 and weighs 8 at Rusted junk (though it should only require 0.6 strength based on 40x blunt) but requires 12 and weighs 8 at Meitou).

2x weight is never the true requirement, though it can get you close to the correct strength requirement on some weapons at certain qualities, especially ones with roughly 50/50 split strength/cutting, where it's the most likely to be accurate. it's rarely correct for weapons that are mostly/all cutting (which lean towards base weight) or most/all blunt which have global modifiers that usually alter their weight built-in (i.e. a Meitou Jitte is 25kg but has a strength requirement of 72).

once you meet the minimum requirements for a weapon, strength has no effect on speed and only affects blunt damage (or martial arts damage).

Dex has no minimums and merely increases combat speed with all weapons/MA in addition to buffing cutting damage with melee weapons (except martial-arts which gets buffed by toughness instead). With no combat penalties, you can cap combat speed around 50-60 dex, with any dex above that helping to counter penalties. (i.e. with enough Dex buffs you can cap combat speed even in full Crab Armor (or wearing a Large Backpack)).

I think that polearm is affected by Str and polearm skill (damage) and dex affects the speed of swings. That's relative to all types of weapons with one huge exception. MA's damage is also boosted by Toughness level of your character.
For all weapons strength increases blunt damage and dex increases cut damage, weapons that have no blunt damage won't benefit from strength for damage while weapons that do no cut damage won't benefit from dex for damage (but will benefit from dex for swing speed).

Interesting. But str doesnt affect speed on it at all like with heavy weapons?
If your character isn't strong enough to wield the weapon (either blunt damage listed of the weapon x40 or 2x weapon weight which is usually the same) you do get a penalty to swing speed of up to 50% for a character who is 20 levels of strength too weak.

Speed: Like said You need the min strength to not get a debuff on speed. Then it´s mainly about dex, and weapon skill. I´m unsure if You need 1 strength anyways to wield a Katana, or any other weapon with no blunt damage. Also certain equipment affects speed, like said the samurai armor, other heavy armor, or certain backpacks - while only assassins rags and the wooden sandals give a buff to it.

Damage: For cut damage it´s half dex and half weapon skill, and for blunt it´s 75% strength and 25% weapon skill. So You mainly want dex for the attack and block speed. And for said polearm which does like 50/50 cut and blunt damage the dex effect is like 25% of it, while the samurai armor features a 15% damage debuff. If it´s about damage alone samurai armor is good for weapons which mainly do cut damage. Like the Katatans, sabers, or the other polearms. For the polearm You´re probably better off with another armor - if it´s about damage, and not a certain dex value for decent attack and block speed, or the protection.
