I suggest researching beds and item storage to set up a little rest area inside that you can use for free while adventuring, I do that in a lot of towns across the map
P.S. for the OP: Base game Stormhouse is more than enough to place the biggest research bench available (More convenient if placed on the roof IMO).
No one's saying "all" mods are cheats. That's a conclusion you're leaping to on your own.
I stick to the rule that it's ok if changes that a mod provides don't make the player lose interest to keep playing the game ^^ It's a sandbox after all <3
stop being a cheating wuss and play vanilla you beta manlet
jk, you do you, as long as you're having fun! it's a niche game made with a niche design in mind. Not to everyone's tastes, and that's ok too. IMHO though you should give the vanilla a chance with the rules CH set, then go nuts with mods for *your* ideal playthroughs. It will allow you to better understand why the game was made the way it was, plus help you pick out the best mods for you!
But to be honest at least - I started with vanilla and my first mod I ever got working was the "256 Recruitment limit" - cause it made me really uncomfortable with such faction limitation on my end. 30 people is not even a faction imo.
