Kenshi
How to play??
Ok started wanderer start. And there is nothing I can do. Looked around and nothing outside town to collect or mine. And since no real gear I cant fight anything... and nothing to fight anyway. Umm how do I play?

There are many options you can do. People usually recommend mining for a complete beginner. When you use the Wanderer start you begin at the Hub. There are at least two copper nodes nearby. Hover over cubic rocks and when you see a pickax logo you can mine that. You can use the prospect button to locate the nodes too.

Other options are:
-find a battle and loot the corpses (risky as traveling is very dangerous)
-lure mobs to follow you and take them to town guards (also risky)
-go south to Squin and recruit Ruka. She is free and not malnourished. It will give you more time to learn the ropes if your initial character dies of hunger.

Been to stone and copper node. And when pickaxe showed I started mining. But 5 minutes later still had nothing. One time i went around 5-8 minutes "watched tv" and still got nothing. Cant loot corpse as there is nothing out in the wilds. Only money I made was around 40 bucks from items I found in the hub on ground. Want to like game but so far not going very well for me.

And traveling around for bit still found nothing except a couple unusable nodes.

EDIT - I used the default start

You need to manually open the node inventory and pull the ore in the character inventory. There are max 5 ores in the node at a time, so it is very slow in the beginning, when you have to manually empty the node. Later you can automate this task.

Right click and hold on the mine for a moment to open its context menu.

yeah best bet is to fight starving bandits and or just steal from towns and sell stuff until u can hire people or mercs to help u fight and get skills up. if u get 10k u can join shinobi thieves to use their training gear and sell stolen stuff to them

Cant find starving ones when cant find any though. Wilderness is literately empty. No plants to collect, or loot boxes, no items literately nothing other then couple stone and copper nodes.

There are many video guides for new players to get a start, if your gaming habits need that sort of thing. Will admit, Kenshi has odd player interface and requires some looking up now and then. ¯\(°_o)/¯

It is a game unlike any other, so abandon expectations based on your past experience of other games. First thing for new char? Learn when to run away, seriously.

You don't need a guide, just play the game, explore the world and figure it out, that is part of the fun

I agree with you. I prefer only use a guide for some thing specific when I cant figure it out myself after working on it. But ive gone miles in every direction and found nothing so I posted my topic. Litterly found maybe 20 pottery pieces and some beer. Other then 2-4 nodes. No animals plants or people. Outside hub of course.

Just did not expect that at all. Expected to harvest plants and such atleast.

There are no plants to harvest. The only truly arable land is north from Hub and it has been claimed by the Holy Nation. Do not try to fight any animal, any! They are much stronger and dangerous than humans. Even goats. You cannot scavenge the lands. All that can be scavenged has already been scavenged, except for the ancient towers, but they are guarded by robot spiders and you have no chance taking them down before you have more people on decent level.

so long as you're not playing a skeleton (one of the robot people) i recommend going north from the Hub to the city of Stack. It's populated by more people and has more shops, as well the guards regularly attack animals and bandits getting too close to town, so you can loot those bodies as you find your way. Depending on what species you're playing, you might get some interesting interactions as well.

Alternatively, you can go southwest from the hub and end up in the city of Squin. It's another populated area with shops and guards and the like, which will give you very different interactions. i haven't spent a lot of time there myself, so i don't know what to expect there really.

Regardless of what happens, so long as you don't die, the game will continue, and you'll usually be able to work out a solution to any problem either through trial and error, being patient and waiting, or sheer brute force.

in whatever situation, don't be afraid to loose fights, that's usually the first step to getting better at them.

Human is what I am. And that sounds interesting I will work my way there soon. Atm playing 7D2D as needed break.
