If you have to ask, its unlikely that you can just fight your way out.
Money making in the fogislands is either mining the iron near by to mongrel or headhunting (fog prince heads to be precise). Unless you have mods that make other methods of money making possible.
First problem is money.
1. Sell fogmen weapons if you are desperate for food money. Loot the ones the guards down.
2. Look for downed Fog Princes the guards have downed. They can and will be downed by guards, you need to loot their heads ASAP as the guards will burn dead bodies, Fog Prince heads are worth 6000 each. They also use ninja blades which are worth okay money.
3. Renting beds at an inn is a constant drain on money. Join the Thieves guild for 10,000 get free beds forever and people that will bandage and aid you in the town. Bed costs add up quickly if you have a decent sized team
Second problem is they are too strong and too numerous.
1. Support the guards in combat every chance you get. Build up your fighting skill where you can. Getting stronger will increase your chances of getting more heads which means better gear.
About escaping
Sneaking out is not gonna happen if you have people with heavy armor and I'll assume you don't wanna just sell it all so you can escape. Honestly just outrunning them would be easier, athletics without heavy armor would get the same results faster. But in both cases you can't have cargo or heavy gear.
I'd advise staying and trying to get the most out of being there. You might get strong enough to force your way out. There are also likely Mercs in town, don't touch them till you are ready to leave. Worst case you use them as fodder to help escape, best case they make you strong enough to fight your way out once you've built your team up a bit.
Well, ok, you still have to watch the run, cause pathfinding is a b*tch sometimes and you don't want to get stuck with a horde of frogmen chasing you.
So... buy sandals, train up athletics a bit, don't be overburdened, and run. GL ;]
travel light. make sure your encumbrance is at 0% or as close as possible on everyone. hopefully you have a few even stronger people that can carry someone if they get downed.
travel together. toggle the run icon on the bottom right until its the black person running and the red person running...that will lock everyone's speed the same (to your slowest member's speed....that's why you travel light). You have a better chance of avoiding trouble if there are no stray party members away from the group.
travel straight south. quickest and easiest route out of the foglands from Mongrel.
Zoom out and pan your camera around a LOT. At night in particular, you can always spot the big groups of fogmen before they spot you. The earlier you see them coming, the more likely you are to successfully start sneaking and get behind an obstacle while they pass.
Save before you go (or don't....if that's your thing and you want to embrace the "only 1 chance mindset, then great)
If you stop to fight while inside the foglands, you've already lost. just. keep. running. If you're definitely going to be overwhelmed, you can try having one person stop and distract the fogmen while the rest escape, though they often split up to follow multiple people. note that one really good stealth person, at night, strong enough to carry others, can easily circle back around and rescue captured party members
