Legally get released from Prison?

So was traveling around and didn't kowtow so ended up fighting in the united cities. Since I didn't really want to just massacre everyone I threw myself in jail. Now this is the first time I've been jailed anywhere other than Holy Nation mining hell so is there a way to bail yourself or anything without encurring the wrath of the populace or a way to see how long I need to wait it out?

If you're a jail prisoner - you can look upon your bounty - it'll state if you're to get released any time soon.

Just a moment of your attention. If your bounty is too high - you're there forever until you release yourself with your Lockpicking skill.

If you are lucky and have enough cats you can talk to the police chief and bail yourself out when they come to bandage another individual who crossed the law.

if you have another character NOT in prison, they can talk to the police chief and pay double the bounty to release you and clear the bounty.

There are also mods out there that modify the prison sentence time if you are annoyed at the length....they can cut it by half, a third, by 5....double it....etc. so it fits your impression of what is appropriate for the world of Kenshi (though i still find it odd that beheading someone is a 500 c. bounty, but theft is 2500...)

Recently got thrown in prison at Narko's Trap. Solo character at the moment, and only a 500c bounty and 10hr sentence.
I waited 2 more days after the 10hrs and no one let me out.
Luckily a tech-hunter came by and was slapping a bunch of the Paladins around and I used that moment to lockpick and escape. No more bounty and I just strolled on my way.
So yeah I'm not sure about waiting it out and legally getting released.
Unless Narko's Trap is just one of those places that just ignores the prisoners.

Narko's Trap is not a place you will be released from, the guards would simply attack you immediately if you aren't allied with the HN.

Narko's trap and Tengu's vault are two places out of ordinary rules. You never get released from those if captured. So the only way is to break out or die trying.

There's a few other places that you don't get released from either. I know the red sabres have some cages, and if you get KO'd inside their main hideout, they put you in a cage. Softlocked me during a solo run. I got put into a cage that is never released with lockpicking too low to attempt to pick it.

I'd imagine certain other minor faction cages are similar. I'm pretty sure mongrel and flotsam will eventually release you, but I don't KNOW if they will. Anti slavers are probably similar. Manhunter base probably releases you, but again, who knows for sure. I bet that if you get KO'd in the Cactus Den, there's a good chance the ninjas will toss you into a cage on their 3rd floor....that would be a never-release situation too
