Need help with slave recruitment from base defense and prison breaks
I'm starting an anti slaver playthrough, and would like to recruit a majority of my members by freeing them from slavery. I figured a good way to passively gain recruits this way was to defeat groups that own slaves when they attack my base. Defeat the masters, heal/recruit the slaves.

Problem is I don't know where to build or who to fight to do that. Does anyone beside reavers attack your base using slaves, or are the my only option for this tactic? I'd also like to recruit slaves of all races, and reavers just seem to have humans.

For my start, I would also like a prison break. Free as many slaves as I can and escape with them to start my faction. I made my own custom start where I am a hiver, starting in a Reaver camp (I can change start location if need be). Only problem is as soon as I free the other slaves, they try to escape one by one instead of following me, and run right into the guards. Is there a way I can a bit more.. organized escape? Where the recruitable slaves follow me as I sneak out? I am lockpicking their shackles and cages, not fighting their masters.

Also, yes I am aware not all slaves are recruitable, there are mods to deal with slave recruitment (I have one that tells me if they are recruitable or not), and that slaves have to be awake to see you free them to have a chance of following, and then joining you. Thanks for any helpful advice!

Do you have the recruitable prisoners mod? i don't know if generic slaves would be on the list, but you might be able to recruit them while they're in the reaver cage just so you have them on your team and can act more overgrazed.

Unfortunately i don't think you can get them to escape all at once, i've tried breaking prisoners out of Tengu's Vault and while some follow me, most run off to fight the guards the moment they are free rather then helping the others. Best i got was unshackling them first so they pick their own locks, and using a character with a 90% lockpick chance to try and break out as many as possible in a short amount of time, with the possibility that others might also break themselves out in that time.

i don't think they'll attack you with them, but United Cities has a lot of slaves. You can buy them out of slavery and if they don't join you, abduct them and carry them home to recruit via recruitable prisoners. That's what i did with some Scorchlander men who were going to either run off on their own or just stay in their cage.

If you want to do this early, might want to look into the "prisoner cages NOW! mod. gives you the ability to build prisoner cages without needing the tier 3 research bench.

I ran into the same issue when I tried a Reaver slave start, so I would personally start somewhere else if going for a prison break. Rebirth would be ideal in my experience, but a UC slave start would probably make more sense if you'll be settling near the Reavers for recruiting. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other factions that use slaves to fight.

I'm fairly certain this mod makes Reaver slaves spawn as any race except skeletons: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=766462696

Yea I changed the start to Eyesocket and I think I like it better. I was debating spending a few days as a reavers combat slave to level up, but it seems slow (very afkable though). Eyesocket has Hives, Shek, and humans though for me to start off with.

And reading through the events page, reavers seem to be the only faction that brings slaves to base assaults. While some factions that use slaves will attack your base, only Reavers bring them to the actual fight.

Thanks for the tips, I might have to use that linked mod.
