Best Way to Train Martial Arts?
Going for a martial arts playthrough at the moment and I'm not sure as to what the best method would be to train my 2 guys in martial arts without having to buy a place, get a cage and cheese it that way.

My 2 guys just got whooped by a hungry bandit that was lvl 5 in attack/def, so I could use some advice regarding martial arts

You gotta fight stuff, that's it. Wear heavier armor to make the training more productive, but less effective.

MA is damn weak for the first 20 levels or so, you have to get rid of that newbie clumsy punch before you even think about a real fight.

Stealth KO enemies, take their weapons away and try then ;]

Oh, and maybe get your strength up a bit first. Fighting unburdened will only train dexterity.

Find someone with out legs, put armor on them, and beat them up. This will only train MA and not dodge, but honestly i think trying to train them up togeather is too much hassle, you are better off getting reaosnable MA skills first, then picking some fights very cautiously to train up that dodge.

Get cage tech and put them in small building, grab downed bandit and cannibals and put them in cages to heal.

Every once in while lock the door and let one out for fight club, pop them back in to heal when over.

Capture broken skeletons in deadlands workshops, they're useful for MA training. You can put them on skeleton repair beds after stealth KO to get their HP full. Better than waiting for captured humanoids to heal.

Tho they deal far more return damage as the Skelton Arm are essentially buffed martial art weapons.

Not idea for lowly new MA in training

burdening yourself reduces martial arts skill, this increases the rate at which the skill exp's as it gets higher, with enough -MA on armor at rank 20, you can increase it quickly to 30( "quickly" ) then burdening yourself more and more. you can always try roaming around with patrols and dealing with enemies that way, also whoever said hacking someones leg off and putting armor on them, genius, gonna be using that to train from now on since my turret gunners usually detach a limb or two during a raid!

Also if you're in a 1v1 fight or 1v2 or 3 hungry bandits might be doable with a dodge of 20ish, you can micro pause switch between attack rounds for the +20 bonus to dodge from block, this can make the gruelling grind slightly more safe

Here's a fun PSA:

You can often pull an individual from a group/pack by being at a distance and 'attack target'. this will often cause that one individual to peel from the group, and if you keep distance from the parent group, you can pick smaller fights.

This is especially useful early game when it's just you and a couple of travel buddies, but moreso in pulling off lone goats or other herbivore to take down for food (or get beat up, win/win)

You can take it one step further: Dismember them in the skin bandit machine and then put the body in the skeleton bed, the torso cannot leave the bed, cannot fight back and will constantly regenerate while you chip away at it. Basically Training Dummy MK IV :P

I always have a MA and he is always my main. I also don't train with "sparring partners" anymore because i don't like the cheese (though it is the only really good way to train - grab someone, take his weapon off, beat him, carry him around on your shoulder - repeat, that way you train all the stats and skills that MA needs really well, and since the "partner" also level up it is really effective. You can even role play that and it fits nicely if you want).

So what i do? Get into fights that i want to win and lose because MA is really weak early hahaha. That's it. That's the only non-cheese way to train it. Since you have 2 MAs it is easier, just send one in the middle of a hungry bandits group (nothing on him), let him get beaten and when the bandits leave, get your second MA, carry the other guy to a bar bed (or just keep him on your shoulder while you do stuff) and when he is recovered, send the other one agaisnt the enemies.

If you can get a clothing building up, you can make the Martial Artist wraps. It pairs very well with the amored rag set, each of which comes with a plus to martial arts. throw in a turban or tanglemust for dust storms, and you can get a pretty good head start on skills.

Other than that, pick fights with baby goats and lone starving bandits to work your way up to a proper desert dervist fister.

When I went to war with the HN, I would capture the Inquisitors and use them as combat dummies for training my MA guys.
Since Inquisitors are fairly high level, this worked well.

if you wan vanilla method, they say you can try to beat up a city guard, get tossed in jail, heal up, break out, and beat up a guard again. Rinse and repeat. Being in jail they wont let you starve, apparently.

But its much easier with training weapons mod. they have training gloves too for martial arts.

You can actually increase dodge very fast by wearing the heaviest armor and a trader's back pack. Then fight a powerful opponent like a Samurai Captain or Gate Sergeant.

Give them a crappy Wakizashi and let them hack away at you while you have block on. You won't do much at first but as soon as they stagger you they will keep staggering you. You won't be able to get you balance but each hit (reduced by your heavy armor) will give you big increases to Dodge.

Don't raise your strength at all. Try to keep it as low as possible.
