Is fencing misworded?

I'm really confused because as I have increased in Thievery, my fencing chance has risen at shops of the same faction, BUT when I click to sell I get a warning that I have that specific % chance of getting caught. So for example I had one item that I had a 52% chance to fence, as I leveled up it became 70% chance to fence, but the warning said I had a 70% chance to get caught trying to sell this item. Is the warning backwards? Shouldn't it be getting easier to sell instead of harder?

Sounds like your thievery skills have improved while fencing, any higher chance under percentage is good.

I mean, seems obvious and that's what I thought, but the message it gives me must be wrong then. So it should be saying, "You have a 70% chance to 'NOT' get caught trying to sell this item."

Yes, I've noticed this too. The text of the warning is incorrect.

For those who haven't noticed it, find a stolen item with, say, a 75% fencing chance. Attempt to sell it. The warning popup will (incorrectly) say "there is a 75% chance you will be caught". It should instead either say "there is a 25% chance you will be caught" or "you have a 75% chance of getting away with it".

Yep, I decided to add a mod that made my thievery level 70 real quick to test it, went to a vendor and had a "99% fencing chance." Sold the item and got a warning saying there was a 100% chance I will be caught selling this item, but everything I sold never got caught at all.
