Cannibal Hunters Start [Experimental]

First off I've always loved the cannibal hunter starts in Kenshi. I find it to be the most desperate, most challenging, of all the starts. On the old map I'd usually manage to get two of them out and to catscratch town while the other 3 spent their time desperately picking locks and attempting to escape. Some of the time I'd eventually get them all out but usually at least one would get eaten while the other 2 got out without their weapons. On the rare occasion I'd even rescue other poor schumcks.

However, the experimental branch on the new map is tougher and even a little crazier. I went into it expecting the standard everyone get captured and play the "who can pick their locks and sneak off before being eaten" game. To spice it up I made sure to have at least one of every race. My people fought the opening desperate but futile fight. But before they could be tossed in the cages 6 Beak Things attacked the cannibal village. Also, the cannibals left my skeleton character instead of carting him off. With the beak things cutting a large swath through the village my skeleton was able to limp off and get away. Leaving 4 unfortunate team mates behind. I started the usual shell game of excape and recapture and rescuing other NPC's captured usually letting them out of their cages so they'd lure the cannibals off.

So what's the problem? Nothing really except its nigh on impossible to get anyone out alive. Why? Because the cannibal village is surrounded by the cannibal capital (which makes it seem they are their own nation state instead of tribes), another village, and worse - yet annother canibal village thats marked on the map as a regular village which is where poor HAL the skeleton just got his latest beat down. As for the other 4, they are currently each awaiting their last BBQ dry rub massage in 4 seperate villages. There's so many cannibals between the 4 vilalges and random patrols that it appears there's no way to exfil even the non-edible character let alone the tastier members.

Loving it but dang.

For the dev's - the cannibal village that isn't red on the map is the one due south of the cannibal capital.

One last thought: I suppose the cannibal capital must have a president who probably ran on the platform of, "A vote for me is a vote for the continued mastication of our society," and "two adventurers in every pot."

I have managed to become the group alive in secure lands, but not all together at once. They now have high stats from all the fights and then back healing in cage and so on. In the cage you dont starve, the cannibal give first aid to you and they don´t eat you.

So cannibal hunters start is easy but it takes a lot of time. If they patch it that cannibals eat you, then it will be the hardest start and nobody will make his way home, i think.

The skeleton finally died. Since the cannibals won't cage him he never got repaired and finally died after his 7th or so beat down.

hm. its less so a capital and more so the village of the strongest tribe ( complete with a grand poobaah). i think there is a mod that makes them all their own seperate faction, given them a much more tribal feel .

So this is supposed to happen with 4/5 having a broken leg to be left to die, spawning in the middle of a cannibal start?!

it kinda feels like cheating, but i jump in the cages right away.. the cannibals then leave me alone, then i wait for beak things or cannibal hunters to attack the village before making a run for it.

I do immediately pause the game, unequip all armor and throw all overweight away, then RUUUUUUNN.

fighting at this point is no real option if you wanna make it out alive.
