Where can i find ancient Science books?
I've gone to the labs in the mist, and in the swamp. But i cant seem to find anything anywhere else (cept holy nation because everyone I have recruited is female...and i dont wanna put up with their ♥♥♥♥). Anyone know of any other areas i can find them?

I don't know about "ancient Science books". Just in case you just want to do normal research, I saw some for 135c or so in a general store. Tried to steal them, they had a guard at night. :-(

You're looking in the right places, but you just got a tad unlucky. The Hive *can* have several in each village's shop. Check back every 24 hours for their restock.

You can look in other Ruined Labs, as well. That's how I fueled most of my research. There are several of them out there, as well as a handful of other locations that'll have them.

As a note, the Holy Nation lists Ancient Science Books as contraband. No need to check there.

The hive villages no longer have the "blue" books, since 1-2days ago, if you play experimental. The only way right now is the ruins. I haven't explored them all again, but the ancient ruin in the island in the west, the one with the AI core, gave me a few of them (about 5).
Someone else said the other ruin in the north, and possibly the libraries will give you some.

Be aware that the amount will be low. I suppose the Hive village trading them was a placeholder. Now that they are almost ready to expand the map, it's likely we'll have new sources for the books.

um...the Hive still sell blue books. I was playing last night, and the game spawned my team in the extreme southwest corner, in West Hive. I wish I'd bought one before the beak things wiped out the merchants. Each trader in that town had one blue book & 20 odd normal books.

Stable: you can buy them in hive villages. Or raid same as in experimental.
Experimental: you need to raid ancient labs(Also yields A.I. cores and engineering things). Maybe libraries too, but never seen one there. You can no longer buy them.

Latest experimental ? Because I did 5 villages (I came back later on) and no blue book at all. And that's not only me, in the topic I opened a 2days ago, someone else confirmed they were gone.

If you need the Ancient Science Books, it looks like your best bet is to revert to a previous update, then import your saved game and grab all the books you can. I'm signed up for experimental, too, and I can't find them anywhere.

In the current experimental, merchants do sell blue books. I've found one at world's end, and I think the hives too. The update with the "small content update with hints at mechanical shops", the previous one, had none except in ruins. Personally, I followed the leads up into world's end, and was directed to the bars, but didn't find anyone relevant, so I guess that didn't work as intended, which is why it seems to be the reason that the blue books being re-added to the merchants took place. Import your game on the current experimental as of now and try the shops again. And the labs are pretty much guaranteed to have them, same with the lost libraries.

I did a trip to the western/northern ruins, and all I had was 7 blue books. Still, I had a bunch of rare new weapons, so it was not wasted time :)

Well, maybe they re-added books yesterday, but 2 days ago I didn't have any blue books in the hive, neither in Mongrel. I'm going for world's end now.
The experimental patching is too fast :D

Libraries have very, very poor yields for books, ironically. If you look in the FCS, the spawn rate for non-damaged books is hilariously low.

It's all about Ancient Labs and Post-Ancient Workshops. There are three Labs and Workshops currently on the map.

Yeah, for libraries, they sure fails at keeping books in good condition.
I'll have to try updating and importing again to check out the shops. It'd be nice to not have to hump all the way to the swamps just to pick up a few books.

Looks like if the Hive does sell ancient science books it's very rare. I checked all of them without any luck... Still good for training up newbies though.:steamhappy:

Ancient science books aren't on the vendor list for the hive in the current build. Oddly enough I know that the World's End construction vendors sell them, but I can't figure out where the heck the reference is in the FCS. Where are you looking within the ancient labs? Ancient Science books only have containers that can spawn them on the top floor of Ancient Labs (and the Suspicious Lab). Usually you can find a stack of 8-10 in safe towards the center of the room. You can check through the rest to see if there are random spawns, usually there will be 2-5 in that sort of distribution.
The Suspicious Lab is actually a decent source as you can often get between 1-4 on the floor leading up to the murder home of the cannibals. The top floor has decent chances, however, they do not spawn because they count as stolen goods.

Weird as I am finding the (blue 5000k) books almost every respawn in the Hive closest to Stack town. These last 2 hours Ive gotten about 15 or so. They are also selling the red research ones for 8000k, I also grabbed 3 of those.

Having them be priced in the millions screams either typo or mods.
Engineering Research being sold by the Hive and Ancient Books in that quantity makes me say that you have the "Shop have more items" mod.
