Running Track
It seems like a running track for training should be really easy to add into the game: A building that, when operated, just has the operator(s) run in circles around the track, training athletics and/or strength as if they were running normally.

As it stands there's nothing except annoyance preventing players from just ordering groups to run back and forth and train. It'd be a nice QOL addition. Doesn't seem like it would be hard to either add into vanilla or add as a mod, either.


Unless the operating machine stuff is hard-coded to have the worker stand still. Thoughts?

I dont have any trouble making guys run beyween cities. If you are sending a group just set them to follow the slowest member. Only REAL pain in the ass pathing issue ive found is sending them to cross the river by the Waystation.

it'd be nice to have this for my newer recruits, if just to save a bit of time training them. perhaps a limit of what it can do though.

I think this would be easier to do than a running track. It could then double for the well or electric power generation.

@BrandonFowl: Its not difficult to just order them from city to city but there are some pathing issues (My outpost's closest to Blister Hill and the route has a blocked road that always causes some minor pathfinding tics, sometimes causes major throwups) and it's more dangerous than just running around my own outpost. There's nothing stopping me from just ordering people left and right to train in 100% safety, but it's boring and there's no logical reason that it can't be automated.

@CaptainGunner: Why have a limit? Again, it's functionality that a player can reproduce in 100% safety, if they sacrifice time and fun.

@Tommygun: That might be easier to make, but it looks like it would just train laboring anyway :P

The copper mine behind the Hub (starting town) has a bug where if you automate the mine as a job, your character will run from the gate leading to it's isolated area to where the wall creates a "Hot Gate" and back, it's roughly about 100-300 feet and will do this loop non-stop unless manually stopped

EDIT: So basically just task that ore as a job, have them pick up a body, fill their inventory/backpack with ore, sneak, and run the loop with a guard or three standing watch and a food barrel in a building you own nearby

It's easy to make an athletics (or any other skill) training station using the FCS if you don't care about a custom model. Indeed however it can't be made to work like the character is actually running, but you can set them to do a running animation at least.

You can download and open an existing training station mod to see the changes it makes and learn what parameters you need to add.
