cybernetic implants
haven't played in a while and a few years ago I read that you could have a cybernetic implant, but it wasn't in the game when I played or has it been dropped? Have they got around to adding this yet?
Thanks

it is for when your limbs go past -100 and they stop working

I really badly hope that they do not include cybernetics in this game. I hope never to decide between buying studded leather pants or a new titanium robot arm.

Not to be pessimistic, I'm just hoping for a more unified concept. They could pull it off but it's going to need a lot more explanation than the game currently offers for its unlikely character choices.

You could mod it in the future so the limb loss is disabled.

I personally want this feature because it's unique in the genre and it will offer so many possibilities.

ye, I also hope they add it, it'd be badass.

Wondering if you would ever WANT to get a replacement limb. Will they be better (stronger/faster) than the original? Or will they be there solely so you can use your limbs again? Cause if they make you stronger, my whole colony will happily butcher themselves.

I only meant that it's not very logical to jump from researching how to build a house (even while you stand inside of one at your research bench) to researching something as complex as cybernetics. It's not terribly hard to come up with some fantastical reasons behind a mixture like that. I really just meant to emphasize that they haven't given anything close to that reason yet. My opinion on whether I like the idea is only an opinion.

You've already broken the system! If the improvements were less focused on amputation and becoming a straight up cyborg, it may be more effective. You could have one class of cybernetics that deals with recovering from a lost limb and another that actually pushes beyond. That second set could be applied to intact and lost limbs and would prevent this sort of problem.

Actually losing limbs might be a quick way to make this game a bit too comical. It seems like it would happen so often that I can easily imagine a guard patrol made up of limbless samurai waddling their way across the desert, swords clenched tightly between their teeth. Maybe reduce the penalty to a somewhat permanently disabled limb only curable with long periods of bed rest. Complete loss could put your arm in a sling where it might heal at an extremely slow rate whereas an injury would be dealt with the usual way. It would make it more important to have a complete outpost before you set out. You'd need a safe zone to return to and actually couldn't stay in your town long until you finished building it.

Robotics and cybernetics seem really out of place to me. Like the guy above said, you are researching how to build a house... and then you are building generators and windmills out of stone blocks, thats about as Fred Flintstone as you can get, lightyears away from cybertech.
