Black Dragon Ninja Raids in Okran's Valley?!?!
Hey, so I have a problem.

I settled in Okran's Valley with my multi race squad to train, farm, and research new tech.
I was willing to handle the risk of HN Paladins discovering my non-human characters as long as I kept them inside a closed building with food until the perimeter walls were built. I was fine for a while, even though I had to reload a few times due to my own carelessness. Everything was great, until I got a Black Dragon Ninja Raid. These raids end up DECIMATING all of my squads, a full wipe. I was lucky with the first raid by a combination of keeping everyone else outside (Risking comprimising the non-humans cover) and taking advantage of the raids rather stupid ai. Now a second raid is coming and I know I'm gonna get wiped again. I even allied with the Hounds to get backup (I now realize this was a futile effort because they're too far way to arrive before the raid destroys the gates).

So my question is this: Are these raids even supposed to happen in Okran's Valley with an unmodded game? I have modded my game and I will post my mod list at the end of the post to help (One mod I have is Reactive World, idk if it would cause this problem though). One thing I have learned about settling outposts in Kenshi is that base location tends to be about Risk vs Reward. Settling a base in a high risk location will be prone to greater risks and threats than a generally lower risk one, but the more risky one will have much greater rewards than the not so risky one, in the form of resources, crops you can farm, wind speed for wind generators, etc. Now, I think that evryone can agree that Okran's valley does not offer much in reward, being abysmal for mining copper and all, and as long as you hide your non-humans in your base (or have none at all), there is not much risk here either, since River Raptors are weak af, Hungry Bandits don't raid your base, and as long as you pay protection money, Dust Bandits aren't a big problem either. However, Black Dragon Ninjas will wipe lower level squads, but I find that this type of raid happining makes settling in Okran's Valley a lot less viable at lower levels, and typically, you won't find yourself settling in Okran's Valley if you can survive the raids elsewere.

My mod list is in order as follows

Enhanced Shopping Economy
Fishing MOD
Patrol Waypoints Plus
Thieves Guild Fix
TameBeasties
Shidan's Tweaks & Fixes
Reduced Raid Duration
Reactive World
Minor Faction Pacifiers - RW Compatability Patch
Racial Diversity (Formerly Multirace Bandits)
Nekos Clothing Overhaul
More Common Unique Recruits
Moisture farming
Minor Faction Pacifiers
Legendary Weapons
Interior (and Exterior) Design
In-Game Biome Map (No Colour)
Immersive Furniture
Idle Farmers
Holy Farm Overhaul
Faces Plus
Copper ore drills
Animal Backpacks
Adventurers Guild - Lore Friendly Recruitment

Any help or advice would be immensely appreciated!
Have a great day!:steamhappy:

Edit: Btw my base is located a bit south of Blister Hill. I can also post screenshots if people need them.

tower of ninjas is pretty close to you.

I setup on the road between blister hill and Stack where there is a sweet spot with 100% arid, 100% green, 100% iron and 80% copper. I can confirm unmodded raid from the ninjas in this area. I hired two bands of mercenaries and wiped their smiles off their face (Also HN will help if nearby.) Then never had another raid. Was still salty though so took my assassin and took their leader to stack. But basically, hire mercs until you have walls and turrets setup.

Thanks guys!
What I think I'll do is try to take the tower out with some body guards and also upgrade my turrets (Just got Advanced Harpoonery! Yay!)

This is old and im sure you've solved your issue by now but for anyone else looking for advice, with clever strategy you can beat higher level enemies. I suggest what i like to call the KO train, get yourself 2 bulls and 2 bonedogs, dont put packs on the bulls, have them as a seperate squad.

When you get attacked, leave your gate open and allow them in. Place your KO train far away enough that the enemies dont agro onto them first, and have your humanoids hide in the building you keep your food in. The enemies will rush the building either after your food or your humanoids. The doorway will create a chokepoint, they will inevitably get in, now command your KO train to goto the door. Your enemies will find themselves 3/3 outside, inside and in a doorway pincered inbetween a group of your people and on the other side (which is their exit) some serious power. I suggest the smallest building you can build as the animals can actually get in that door when fully grown to clear up.

At low levels your humanoids will likely get KO'd but you will almost always win and what doesnt kill them makes them stronger, the creatures can win the battle for you aslong as they dont get completely swarmed. They are easy to keep and early game are your strongest weapon. They grow faster then you can train in combat early on without cheesing it. and with the frequency i get attacked they feed quite happily on confiscated limbs.

You almost always get ninja raids, the type of ninja depends on the biome. You can only escape ninja raids in the north where you get daily cannibal raids instead. Swamp and the south is swamp ninja raids, north east and the east is sand ninja and west/southwest and center (Border zone/HN territory) is black dragon ninja. All ninjas are based in their own tower somewhere in the regions they raid, with identical stats and gear quality.
