Wandering into Blister Hill with a skeleton was probably a close second.
Also, thinking 40 athletics would protect me from beak things. Yikes. Myth busted.
He was so sneaky that he was able to crawl away without the skeleton on the turret noticing that the missing leg was not as fatal as it had appeared.
- Thinking beefing up by fighting fogmen was a good idea only to get grabbed and stuck in an infinite loop (fogmen keeps going back and forth, forever)
- Playing without a start mod
- Giving a witty response to a holy nation preacher while in their land
- Walking into Beek things territory with a low level group
Cost us 2 arms and one leg.
^-- This. That was the first thing I thought about when I read your thread title. :)
One thing I found that requires gameplay experience is judging the relative strengths of one's own group/team when compared to a threat, especially when it comes down to degraded combat capability due to incurred damage/losses.
So, let's say a team is on the move and has just defeated a group of Dust Bandits. The team is wounded, but you're not too worried about it. You come upon a group of ____ and would normally not worry about them as a possible existential threat, either.
Wat do?
That question takes a bit of experience with the game in order to produce the right decision. :) How many fighters are already at reduced Strength due to wounds? Who's limbs are in danger? Is your best dps'er capable of using their primary weapon? Do you have the appropriate weapons for this enemy? etc...
I remember falling across this particular issue when I fought some Starving Bandit packs, one after the other. The first was easy, the second wasn't... It was either the second or third pack that finally downed my first character and ended up with him losing all his accumulated garbage-items. :)
Second try mobbed by bandits trying to build a house beat down, just by more bandits and die
Third try attack solo baby goat with an iron bar and die
Fourth try kite those bandits into the Hub bar loot sell go outside attack lone adult goat and die
Fifth try kite bandits, mine copper, kite bandits mine copper, hire helper, kite bandits and mine copper.
So 4 gruesome deaths in less than 40 minutes, but my fifth try worked
Very large base and enough people to start taking cities.
-Lets build a base, it should only take an hour, then I can do something else with my Saturday.
Which begs a question , is there mod where you can build mannequins (To have at your base.) to display all your different clothing outfits you've managed to collect?
Noooo...
