Passive money
Looking for passive money making ideas, is crafting weapons on long meta is good enough? My little tribe is settled on UC land.

I prefer alcohol. Easier storage and transport.

There isn't a way to make passive income in this game.

I've thought about this too and the closest thing we have is opening a shop, however it makes peanuts and doesn't seem to work properly, PLUS you need to re-stock it so that takes away any automation.

I think the best way to not worry about money is just become super rich (I sell high quality crafted weapons). Only need to sell some weapons every now and then, money isn't an object anymore.

Agreed. Sake is best for this.

I'm currently on day 160 or so, sitting on 800K from a weapon and armor manufacturing operation in Stoat. I'm sure it's possible to do even better, for one so inclined. Unfortunately, my weapon smith just died, but she left her mark on the world.

No such thing as passive income, but you can automate your crafting pipeline and sell the results whenever you run out of storage. As already noted, cooking/running alcohol and hash also works.

I don't really do passive, my base is only used to produce food and craft better gear for my little 23 man squad. I just hit the ancient labs etc and sell the weapons and robotics from them. Other than that Faction bases & bosses also provide valuable loot too. Takes no time at all to become pretty rich being active.

Running a base to produce food drink and alcohol to sell takes way way longer!

The majority of my money came from selling weapons that didn't make the quality cut for me. I run Vanilla, so the best Ruka can make are Edgewalker 2 weapons. Any Edgewalker 1s are sold off to the nearby Hive Villages. I do the same with my armor. Masterwork or bust!

I can probably buy the entire United Cities if I wanted to at this point. Which, now that I think about it, since the United Cities is all about wealth = power wouldn't it have been kinda cool to "eliminate" them so to speak by buying them out? No bloodshed whatsoever, just throw money at the problem and watch it solve itself.

You don't need passive money if you spend 30 minutes working on cheese money. I have found no better way without actually cheating to spawn cats into existence than through this method and now I am ready to impart this nugget of golden information onto you. You can make millions of cats using this ultimate and game breaking cheesy strategy:

Go to Mongrel, and go to the small shack robotics shop. Pause the game. Steal all contents of the boxes filled with mid to masterwork grade skeleton legs, arms and expensive repair kits. Walk to either the travel shop or the big bughouse robotics shop if its night. Sell your gear penalty free. Buy the biggest bag you can. Now go back and steal all remaining spoils. Sell the gear, and save the game. Quit and import into a new game to restock boxes. Rinse. Wash. Repeat. You can generate infinite money with no relations penalty or risk of being imprisoned/killed. The skeleton doctor might take a swing at you every now and then but he doesn't persist in attack nor do the guards interfere, and every other shop in town will buy the goods at full price.

This doesn't even touch on the fact that Mongrel is, of course, a giant cheese factory for your gaming enjoyment before even taking into consideration this delicious morsel of Fleur de Lait. If you don't know, Mongrel is in the Fog Islands, so you need at least 20 athletics and 50 cats to buy wooden sandals so you can outrun the fogmen. Then its no problem getting in and out whenever you want.

That's one way to make money but making a new mod would be easier, and faster.

Open FCS, make a new mod. Change the price of a food source, a resource, or any item from its current price to 5-20k. Load your game and sell the items for 5-20k each.

Might as well just edit the save and add the money if you cheese the game this much

it's possible to do proper passive sales w/ shops, but you need a bunch of mods to really make it work. even things that don't even pertain to the counter, like more caravans, more wandering groups, etc. i've sold somewhere around 90k out of my shop counter in one day at my own base.

Yeah, its already pretty much already cheating.
Jimmy Rustler Mar 18, 2021 @ 5:51pm
except it isn't cheating since no game files are edited to make this happen lol. I do love the hater comments though. I did say, the only way to beat this cheese was to actually cheat, and you guys aren't proving me wrong. If you want to exist in a world where you deny yourself delicious cheese because the smell offends you that's your prerogative, however, I very much enjoy finding every games thickest and most pungent of cheese strats and laughing maniacally as I exploit them in my playthroughs.

What you're talking about doing is a waste of time. No one needs to go through that just to get cats. If you want to do that for fun, fine, but none of what you posted is necessary to make large amounts of money fast. In fact, I can make 10x what you're making in 1/100th the time with a mod.

If you're going to cheat by importing over and over, you just as well cheat quickly with a mod or by editing in FCS so you can get on with playing the game. What you suggested make zero sense given that fact.

I make money with trader`s leathers, good money and you can have your guy make good armor for your squad. Making weapons takes too long and the weapons that get made do less damage then regular ones of the same quality.
