Naginata vs Polearm
Which do you like more, which do you think is better?
They are similar weapons, which makes deciding between these two hard

Both have the same reach of 28. Both have +6 to attack and -8 to indoors and both have +50% to animals. But the polearm has +30% to armor penetration which the naginata doesn't. At cross weapon level, the naginata has a weight of 6 kg and the polearm has a weight of 15 kg. Most characters would be able to eventually wield either and not at cross and the only justification would be if you aren't attacking armored enemies and want an absolute starting weapon that will eventually become to weak. So basically i recommend the polearm for armor pen, and the only other difference between them is the raw damage. A naginata has a 1.76 cut damage vs the polearm's 1.10. And the naginata has .4 blunt damage while the polearm has 1.0 blunt.

So basically for unarmed foes use a naginata starting out. But once you get the strength a polearm is the better option when fighting mid late game foes. Armor pen is very important mid late game.

it also seems the bleed damage is the same. Hopefully I was looking at wiki's that were up to date.

Naginata is kinda like a beginner weapon. I think the biggest case for it is it's counted as a "Katana" class, thus allows you to cover both outdoor and indoor with one weapon class if you carry a naginata and a ninja blade or similar. It also means you'll level up the weapon skill faster at the beginning since all the fighting you get funnel into leveling one instead of 2 different one. Doesn't mean much by mid game, but quite a bonus at the beginning

I don't know what i was thinking but hat tip to Nick for seeing my poor advice. I cannot believe i made this mistake even after having the wiki for both weapons open in front of me.
