Seems like when you take a person prisoner their AI is being set to the same as if an NPC took them prison and when you free them the game assumes you are a hero setting them free from a slaver and thar particular AI is then kicking in.
No other reason for why a guy you just held prisoner should want to join you off the bat.
Although I guess you can RP it and say its stockholm synfrome kicking in.
Devs probably need to make the game recognise a slave being set free and a person you took prisoner being set free and introduce a system to account for that i.e. when you set a person free who you took prisoner then you should get a good rep with the faction they belong to depending on how you treat them kinda like how Rimworld does things.
Broken or "fixed." Tried this exploit as well yesterday and it no longer works. Maybe there's a check now if you drop them inside a slaver shop?
The blocks on freed prisoners joining the player are, when working
1/ No high level NPCs
2/ No join option if the plaayer caged them or turned them in
3/ Not completely hostile to the player faction
4/ The player faction is full (vanilla: 30/30)
To add: Not all NPCs have access to the join player faction AI either.
Thanks!
two more questions:
At what point is an NPC considered high level?
And at what point starts the completely hostile?
Good question, which I'm not entirely certain the answer as most of my recruits were Escaped Holy Nation Servants (Holy Nation Outlaws),who can top out on spawn at high teen combat skill levels.
Edit: I do remember pulling a Berserker off a cannibal pole and having her join my squad once.Combat skill levels in the 20/30s iirc.
Factions like Frogmen and Cannonballs (fogmen&cannibals lol),the join player faction shouldn't be available to them at all in a vanilla install.
Do i have to worry after getting -100 to dusk bandits that there is no way anymore to recruit them?
I found some Yubuta bandits and they seem to have -100 after first contact, means they wont be recruitable right? (i bet they are to strong anyways)
Hard to say currently, you'll have to test.
Buying their freedom from jail or releasing them from cannibal/fogmen poles sometimes had them follow the player but they still remained hostile and fellow squad members would attack them without being able to damage them because they were also flagged as allies while in the follow state.Sometimes they followed and joined without being hostile even though the dust bandit faction was in hate mode.
You'll just have to test it out as different versions of the game have all had different bugs/glitches/quirks when it comes to recruiting slaves/prisoners/dinner.
You'll need to test it out and share your findings.I hear through the grape vine that it's possible Yabuta bandits may have related additional interaction beyond just hated enemy bandit faction for the player. (purely rumor)
I'm not much help sorry, really need to find the time to play more extensively again. hahaha
It had the tech hunter faction iirc,so wasn't broken.
