Where is the best town to base myself that has skeleton repair beds?
I'm starting a new game as the group of 6, 5 skellies and one human who has a 20k bounty with the HN. I just realised that repair beds are way down the tech tree and none of the random waystations have any where you start. I also kind of need my town of choice to have a travel goods store or there to be one nearby, the wear and tear makes it impossible to get them trained up in a random town.

Heng, Sho Battai, Heft, Flats Lagoons, World's End, Black Scratch, Mongrel, Shark, Black Desert City, and maybe Drifter's Last or Catun but I'm not sure. You still could use Hub and visit nearest hive village to west or Waystation to east across the river, they have skeleton bed.

Mongrel, perhaps. Has a skeleton shop with repair beds and another mechanics shop with repair beds (that are cheaper to use) upstairs, plus everything else. Comes with great training opportunities considering you won't be leaving alive unless you're strong enough to do so, and you can make money on Heavy and Prince Fogmen heads and also has safe but inefficient copper resources, an automatic drill for iron ore you can filch from, a couple of shacks for sale and even a Shinobi Tower. Skeletons are probably not even taken away to be eaten alive by Fogmen too so that's potentially a plus, and you can farm robotics repair kits from Broken Skeletons found North in Obedience too if you don't wanna buy 'em - it's also a good area for getting beaten up to train Toughness and Robotics skills while repairing yourself as a Skeleton too.

Mongrel is really the only town I'm familiar with in any great detail though, I pretty much always end up either there or Squin in every playthrough lol. It's kind of a terrible location to base yourself in until your group has decent athletics or combat abilities though, I'd say. Their shops aren't the best but I do believe they sell some high quality goods like Masterwork crossbows and such too.

I would highly recommend AGAINST UC cities if you're playing skellies. Noble Hunter a-holes love to use skellies as sport and you'll get no help from gate guards in that situation. The one exception is Catun, I've never seen Noble Hunters around there before, but they definitely exist in the northeast territories and around Drifter's Last and Clownsteady.

Are the Noble Hunters the people with an Eagle's Cross and will one-shot anyone unarmoured for no reason? RIP my Beep who was trying to sell some cactus. Headshot from like 100m away. Instantly killed him.

Yes. They especially love targeting skellies.

Thanks for the replies

Yeah there's no way i'm trying to settle in uc territory, those noble hunters are irritating and at low level you cant even outrun them.

I don't even fully understand how their aggro is supposed to work, they have dialogue which suggests that if you stay away they'll leave you be, then you take a long bolt to the knee and cant escape. And when that happened i immediately walked in the opposite direction when they saw me, they still fired.

Simple answer: don't let them see you :)

Wait till you encounter sniper bots. They don't even give you a warning first ;)

Mongrel. Hell yeah Mongrel.

Repair bed, the best limbs in the game, and infinite money you don't have to work for in Heavy Fogmen heads. The guards will kill them, you loot them.

Also, the fogmen do a lot of Blunt damage and don't kidnap Skeletons, so you can train up on them without an issue.

That city in fog islands (i forget name) is fantastic for skeletons, since the fog people make great training fodder, and when they knock you out they'll leave you since skeletons taste yucky.

Yeah, that's Mongrel, mentioned above.

Wait so skeletons can go to mongrel almost risk free, since the fog dudes use blunt weapons and dont do anything if you go down. Also makes sense lore wise, a outlaw of the holy nation running there with a bunch of skeletons that would be destroyed otherwise.
Asmosis Dec 7, 2020 @ 9:01am
Pretty much. Risk wise it's the safest place in the game for skeletons.

Mongrel is the best town to start in. Most/All shops and lots of training on fogmen.

ditch your meatbag first, as he/she will certainly die on the way to mongrel.
