heavy weapons as a jelly bag
is it entirely necessary for me to have ultra mega op robo arms to use some of the later heavy weapons....also sorry typing in the in game shift tab window so minimal proper punctuation. i read somewhere awhile ago that without being either a skelly or having robot arms you can't use some of the later weapons, or that they're so slow later on they are useless.

Depending on the weight of weapon with your strength, dexterity, attack, and specific weapon skills but you won't need best skeleton limbs or any for meitou falling sun which is best all round weapon that has both high cutting and blunt damages.

Blunt weapons need 2x (weapon's weight) strength to get full attack-speed, anything has a blunt damage that must fulfill this condition. So you need to train your strength very hard, or use robot/prosthetic limbs(not only arm but leg works too).
Other skills were easier to train.

The secret to using heavy weapon happily, is to never use any yellow colored ones unless you absolutely have to. Those green colored skeleton mk1 or mk2 are good enough for all purposes.

For what it is worth, I have never used the "supposedly go to" weapons you are typing about. I still enjoy my game play. I built dexterity with Katanas early to mid, then switch to Combat Cleavers build Hacker skill. They have great armor penetration +30 and are excellent against robots +25. They are not too long to give an indoors penalty either. I keep the Guardless Katana in the secondary slot when fighting any med to light armored enemy.

I am not a min/max type. I play to enjoy the game, not beat a math problem. 07

When it comes to heavy weapons Falling Sun is pretty much the only one that can be used at Meitou rank as a non-augmented character. I think the meitou Plank needs like 120 strength to wield at full speed. And the Fragment Axe at meitou rank is just stupid with a requirement of 144, I think.
You can barely reach 144 with two maxed lifter arms and more than 90+ strength. Even then, take one hit and your strength will drop below the threshold and it'll be useless.

I think it's 80 Strength for the Falling Sun. So manageable as a fleshbag but, again, taking damage will almost certainly put you under par.

surprisingly the meitou falling sun proves to be the best out of the heavies with such a low investment

Yeah. The only benefits of the plank of fragment axe is that they do blunt damage, so it gets through more armour and can't be healed as easily. Though the falling sun does more than enough blunt too.
