Besides, if I carry the wolf it does not gain any stats.
In fact on the 8th run I thought, screw it. I am tired of sneaking around and hiding only to be killed anyway. This time I spawned in, clicked on Northern Coast and let them go. I set the camera to follow and enjoyed the scenery. They ran straight to the darn coast, no issues. Go figure!
As luck would have it, moving west along the coast towards Fishing Village was a troop of Flotsam Ninja and Tech Hunters. I had the 2 walk along with them. Strolled into the village without a care.
Something odd did happen though. There were three Bonedogs that attacked the ninjas, of course the wolves were killed. I harvested them and sold the teeth and pelts to Maggie. She is the fish monger just at the village gate. As I walked into the gate she said, here you look like you could use this more than me, and gave me a fish. I did not actually see a fish, but when I looked at the characters food bar it was moving up. At this stage she has given me a gift, and purchased my goods, seemed fair.
A short time later I was walking back into town and she attacked me, beat me down and left me bleeding and unconscious on the ground as she walked away. I still have no idea what that was about.
I understand those make it easier, not what I am trying to do though. I am sticking with the Shek and by george I will make it back to the Shek kingdom. For it is there I will live, get stronger and police the area. I will do this while at the same time expanding into a large wolf pack.
Indeed, I did have one interaction I did not detail above, it surprised me and gave me a little bit of hope for decency in the world. A UC samurai hailed me and accused me of being poor, which is a crime. He was going to arrest me. I told him, I am not poor. He asked for proof, I should display some cats. Unfortunately I only had 13, he was not impressed. He then told me he could tell I was poor because I was so thin, obviously I could not even afford food. I replied, I just have angular bones. He stared at me a moment, then handed me some food and told me to get away from here, gathered his men and marched on. Touching.
The Holy Nation has never even tried to engage in conversation, they attack on sight. Something to remember when I have grown my pack.
Cannibals seen in distance fighting something, crept closer to see. A lone skeleton is surrounded by approx 21 cannibals. He is severely damaged, about ready to drop when a herd of goats roam through. Some of the cannibals attack the goats, just as the skeleton falls. Of course the cannibals cannot eat the skeleton so they kill a few goats and leave. I run in, loot the skeleton of its repair kit and commence repairing it. Once it is repaired it starts playing dead. This gives me an opportunity to replace the repair kit, I am no thief. I then proceed to loot about 5 goats and the few dead/dying cannibals. The food and skins are enough to bring me and Alpha, (my first bonedog), back up to full health.
I needed a more reliable way to make cats than scavenging dead cannibals. I built a Small Shack and Small Research Bench. I erect a Stone Mine and a Manual Stone Processor. I labor for several days living on goat meat until there are 10 Building Materials to sell. There was one cannibal raid during this time, but there was nothing I could do but hide as 20 or so captured a couple of Deadcat fishermen. There were no cannibals downed, nothing to loot.
I received notification of a caravan heading to my outpost. Continued to labor producing Building Materials and increasing cats amount. Now having approx 3000 cats I was able to purchase a traders backpack, which is worth every cat, let me tell you. Eventually the caravan arrived and I was able to purchase 2 research books. This allowed me to place an Iron Refinery. With a few more books I am now producing Iron Plates. These are providing me with enough cats to maintain a steady diet for us.
Still a very long way to go, and the lack of city guards mean even running inside the village to avoid attacks is a no go.
Yeah, exactly my thoughts and imo losing is fun :)
It's absolutely brutal. Bought her as a defenceless pup. Too slow to keep up.
Had her head caved in a couple times.
Got carved up for food while I was knocked out once.
Our settlements just get raided, as I can't solo repair the gates fast enough.
In the end I bought a place in a city and became a weapon smith.
I guess you gotta be responsible when you have dependants.
