How do I eat food?

I just got Kenshi and I didn't have to worry about food until my 4th attempt to play. now that I am slowly making money or cats from a copper deposit just outside the city I started in I am able to afford a bed and food but I don't know how to eat and the dudes food meter is half gone. how do I eat the damn bread I bought?

Chars and animals eat automaticaly once their hunger goes down past a certain value.

Also, once they eat their hunger meter goes slowly up. It does not fill up immediately.

also how would I go about paying off bounties? I recently recruited a dude named Ells also known as "the rum thief" and I'd rather my party be free from risk of bounty hunters.

Turn him in and if the boutny isnt too high he will be freed after his bounty time is up.
Can tell if your people have eaten or not by the black arrow on your food bar, far right side. it will point to the right when they have eaten and the opposite when hungry

I picked up the arrow thing pretty quick, weird thing is that the bounty is gone now. it was 1000 and two ingame days later it vanished.

Bounties under 10k go away with time. Above that you are “infamous” and the bounty will never decay.
