Kenshi

Need help getting Reshade to work on Kenshi
Warning: I am not a tech guy.

I toyed with the settings for a while in my attempts to get the Reshade to work with Kenshi but can't seem to make it happen. When I set Reshade to use d3d9.II it says it's working, but when I boot up Kenshi there is no sign of Reshade. Yes even after pressing "home".

I attempted the d3d11.II fix modders on other sites say to use but that just results in crashes & error codes, so d3d9.II it is.

I would love to greatly improve the graphics of Kenshi via Reshade. Just need it to work first.

Any experienced modders &/or users of Reshade able to lend some advice?

hi rusted cake. The kenshi 2 Reshade on nexus is using a very old reshade version. You can totally recreate its effect and more using the latest official reshade effects from the reshade website which imo is better. But lets leave that to some other day.

First question, did you enable this mod on the mod tab of kenshi launcher after copying the file?

The modder says to enable ssao , you don't have to because it does not add much to the graphic. Cartoon I completely disable because it is ugly. Comix I would fine tuned it.
I only have smaa, comix, colorfulposter and lumasharpen on and tweaked, only these four. I could give you my screenshot wait a minute.

Ah your a little ahead of me bunny, I know how to download mods (you already helped with that ty), but I can't get the program Reshade itself to actually work with Kenshi even when it says it does before I boot up the game.

So I just need the Reshade program to properly work with my Kenshi, I am using the newest version of Reshade.

When I boot up Kenshi there is no option to pull up a Reshade (the program) menu.

Did you download the mod from nexus? If you did, then it is an old version. If you used the official reshade site, then it requires you to run a setup file that will target kenshi folder and install everything for you there. Where did you get the reshade effects?

Both images below have comic on. First image without lumasharpen:

After applying lumasharpen:

The detail is breathtaking !

Yes I downloaded Reshade from the official website, I have version 4.7.0
I have not doawnloaded any Reshade mods themselves, as I wish to get familiar with the application before doing so.

Normally when you boot up a video game after setting Reshade to interact with it you get an option to press "home" key on your keyboard to then pull up a fancy menu. I do not have this option.

Ok first of all, you do not copy the reshade files to mod folder, no. All the files must go into Kenshi folder.
from the "mod" folder, to dxgi.dll, to reshade.ini, all files and folders go to "Kenshi" folder, not the mod folder in there.

If you used the reshade setup, then on startup, did you choose kenshi folder and choose the directx11 render system, and the effect packages? I really doubt you downloaded from official reshade site. Are you sure?

Bunny my lad I don't think you understand the topic friend. There are many mods named Reshade (including the one your talking about). I am speaking of the PROGRAM called Reshade. If you type Reshade into google you will see what I mean, it is used to make graphical enhancements to any & all video games. Some Reshade mods tend to also use this application, so I wanted to get familiar with it first.

Ok I think I got your problem! Your Home key in the game is being used by something else. Go into your game control settings and scroll down to find out which key is using Home key !!

Yes I got it now. Try changing the home key in your controls.

I can zip up all my reshade settings and files and dropbox them to you if you'd like.

I don't use any fancy zip programs I just simply do it all manually when modding my games (unless downloading from steam workshop)
I have 7zip but the poor fellow goes unused lol.

Something occurred to me though, you might need permission to modify kenshi folder. Just to be safe, right click kenshi folder, choose properties, go to security tab, edit privilege to your current user account so that it can modify(read + write) kenshi folder
