training weaponsmithing
what blueprints are good for training smithing? I noticed that some blueprints build extremely quickly, meaning I spend massive amounts of resources for a low amount of exp. katanas maybe?

I think it completely depends on the crafting time, you get EXP for crafting not for the finished product so a long crafting time would net you more EXP for the materials spent. Mouse over weapons in your queue to see how long they take to craft.

Desert Sabre is one of some that raise weapon smith skills quicker. Scorchlanders have speed bonus for raising weapon and armor smith skills.

I think it's based on material conversion, not time (Though there is a relationship between the two)

It's not simply crafting time, because after around 85, "Material Refinement" (IE, turning Ore into plates/Steel into chainmail) gives virtually no XP, while actually making products does.

Either way, for weapons, the best are Planks and Frag Axes, because they consume the most materials, and take the longest, so either way, your bases are covered. Plate beating, Leather tanning and chainmail fab is good until around 70 and then it starts to fall off a cliff until you're refining hundreds of materials for a 1-2% gain.

Oh that's interesting, gonna make my smiths alot better if that is the case. 95+ is just not even moving at the minute lol.

Though like somebody else said, desert sabers might be better if you don't have hundreds of armor storage as u can only have 8 frags/planks in each storage compared to 16 sabers

In the end, weapon smithing is a lot less important than Armor Smithing. Typically you're just going to weapon smith Catun 3 for New recruits, which are usually the best balance between weight and damage. MK and EDGE don't really become better until much later and you can get them from Scrapyard, especially for heavier weapons (Clubs, Hackers, Heavies. catun 3 also doesn't require steel. So don't even bother upgrading your smithy unless you really have strong steel production.

I actually think the best options are Old Refitted Blade (0-20) Catun 3 (20-50) And Edge (50+) because of how the weight ratio shakes out..

You can't exceed 1.2x speed. (Including with Sandals/Assassin's rags) so weaker weapons, by virtue of lower weight, can actually enable you to wear superheavy armors without losing any effective attack speed.

They are HEAVIER!? No wonder my new turret Shek is walking at 1mph (all my Sheks get Falling Suns >:D)

Oh wow yeah Edge 1 Sun is 28kg, yikes.

I prefer the Plank to Falling sun, it's easier for new recruits to use, and less bleed damage means more limb-chopping carnage. Sometimes I just like to find a swarm of hungry bandits and count the legs on the floor, and all the spirograph artwork from the legless bandits fleeing.

Falling sun is, objectively better (with appropriate strength/dex), and Frag axe is just too much of a pain to master unless you are intentionally powerleveling.

I just really like the way the Sun looks tbh :P

Some of my characters have their weapons pointing through the floor with a plank/frag equipped, although they are cool weapons too.

Katanas seem the best 30+ hours training for each one, small inventory space win/win

If they seem like the best, you couldn't possibly have used another weapon ever. They're pretty much the worst weapon class, with Toppers being the only one useful against anything other than trash.

They're completely useless against robots, and armor, which end up being 99% of the endgame encounters.

The Best weapons are: (Ignoring stupid micro metas, this is jsut based on throwing your troops at a horde and seeing who wins and by what kind of margin)

Any heavy (The differences between them is largely academic, with Frag Axes having the highest DPS by a small margin, but requiring a significant, if fairly rote, skill)

Polearm (the Long Polearm used by the Hive, which tears through Samurai and Paladins)

Hackers (Paladin's Cross especially) To hack robots to bits. Long Cleaver is good too, but no Meitou Version

Crossbows, Toothpick to train with, use a Ranger at around 50 Precision shooting, an OWMK1 at 70, OWMK2, Spring Bat and Eagle's Cross should be reserved for Precision shooting at >80 so you don't insta-kill one of your allies. Eagles cross has highest damage, but lowest endurance. OWMK2 tends to be better if you're not doing a Crossbow column.

Sabers have a limited role as a strong defensive and specialist weapon (Desert Sabers make the battle with Bugmaster slightly less torturous, without relying on SneakKO cheese). The Foreign Saber and Holed Saber has extremely strong defensive stats. Having one guy armed with one of these, set to Taunt-block, with high DEX, can hold an entire army at bay, though probably won't get any hits in.

What mate? The post is about how to best train weapon smithing
