Research Bench Level 3

I have completed all the research available (I think) on a research bench 2 and now want to build a research bench grade 3, but the long house I am currently occupied won't accomodate it...the bench is just too big. I thought I might have been able to fit it in up one end, so dismantled everything, now I find it won't fit. What sort of building do I need to fit this in...and will I be able to move, and fit anything else in?

L house or bigger or a normal storm house maybe but it will take up entire roof or floor

No need to build new ones each time after you've built the level 2 bench. Just click the upgrade button, it should then be rebuilt by your engineer.

But I DID indeed dismantle everyhing in the way and tried replacing it and it didn't fit. Are you saying if I just upgraded it in situ it would have fit then?

Yes, shame it won't fit now. Especially if you say you've also dismantled items that were close to where it was.

For some reason you can build things a lot closer together if they are placed at the same time, building things at different times seems to require more space I've noticed.

So best practice, when space is an issue, is to place everything you want before clicking the confirm button. Of course, this can sometimes cause problems in itself if you try to build everything as close as possible to each other, including the one you have.
If you have plenty of space then it's not a big deal as you can leave a little extra space between everything which is what I do.

I usually always make sure all the green men are showing green (not red or hidden), apart from when building against a wall.

Only solution would be to dismantle some/more things in there & rebuild them all again at the same time including your bench if there are things close to where you want it to fit.

Storm Shack works best for a lab bench. Once placed it can be upgraded all the way from a lab bench II to a lab bench VI.

No, if it wont fit trying to build it normally it wouldnt fit for upgrade either. There is a few buildigns too small for it and depending on how you have the bench facing.

ahh, I thought he was trying to build the level 3 bench the same location he dismantled the level 2 one. If that was the case then my previous post still stands. If it's a different building then Peons post is correct, you need a building big enough for it to fit in the first place ;o)
