How to train Martial Arts without any cheesing tactic ?
I've been using a lot of cheesing to train Martial Art :
- using a mod to have weapons that does 0 damage and train with a prisoner
- using a dismembered prisoner in vanilla (but then I can't train everything like dodge)
- using a Beak Thing, attack & retreat manualy
- lure a single starved bandit out of a group by clicking on him while being far away
- waiting for a group of bandits to attack guards and I help the guards

These are all the cheesing strat that I used to do.
I tried to start a new game as a slave and punch at a guard, it's impossible, I even lost a leg.

Maybe against bandits, I can use a squad of 5 good trained warriors with weapons, everyone fight while 1 is training in MA, it may be possible, but it mean I can't have a full team of MA...

How do you people train Martial Arts without any cheesing strat ?

The cheesing methods you mention are how you train combat in general. Fighting guards was a bit of a mental idea as you have no toughness.

It's immensely helpful to get the armoured rags + skirt + martial artists bindings as 0-10 Is the hardest part of leveling MA and this combo puts you at 12, even better if you get assassins rags.

It's a lot easier to just focus on toughness to start out.

Hi. Fight Gorillos in Vain. Works every time. No cheese too. Good luck.

When I train noobs, I do it by having the enemy focusing on a few things at once. The game will tell you: "The best way to learn combat is 1 on 1, but that just ain't true.
Going in 1 on 1 against something high level enough to actually give you good skill is pointless as you will get stun lock pummeled into the floor boards.
If you surround him with 3 idiots though, thy each have openings to test their moves. They will still mostly just bet smashed in though so you'll need armor to survive it.

Then again, it all depends of your definition of "cheese".. Eventually, your dodge will get high enough to start learning attacks regardless so just keep taking those beatings.

To train martial arts for a completely new character kidnap a holy citizen or a starving bandit, fogman or cannibal and take their weapon away. Make sure they have full health. Because both characters will do such low damage they will fight each other for a very long time. You can keep making them rematch the same prisoner or also make them fight in armor to make the fight last longer and to decrease the martial art stat like wearing a mercenary plate is good because it provides fist protection and lowers martial arts.

Another way if you already have strong warriors is to just take off their swords and make them fight river raptors keeping all of their armor on. Once they get pretty good at fighting river raptors train them on leviathans because they have enough hp since stronger characters will do too much damage to train unless you starve them.

What you want is to get beaten "safely", for want of a better description.

Train up toughness really high, then get your ass kicked while you're barehanded. Load up stones and increase your strength to a respectable number, then travel light and start getting your ass kicked some more, but get your dodge skill trained up.

Eventually you'll stop getting your ass kicked, between a high Toughness and Dodge skill and be able to stay in fights long enough to land some punches.
