Anyway, the issue with the markup not being applied is because the hashish is marked as stolen. This can happen if you drop a backpack full of it, walk a bit away, and pick it back up. Other conditions can also trigger this self-thievery and mark items (the item might not even have the stolen tag visible), but the backpack is the most common since it's easy to ditch if you need speed when you run away from, say, a beak thing.
Cougar206's trick work because the game recheck who the hashish belongs to when you pick it all one by one and realise it was you all along.
