"Missing zone files," this looks like an old and elusive issue that might be resolved by importing your save.

My current run is at day 91, and it's never crashed or broken. If you're running a bunch of mods, headaches can occur if you aren't very careful. Check you mod list, maybe try playing a while with no mods for comparison, and definitely attempt an import.

No mod's and I learned the hard way when I used 'Import' on my very first game that I had up to 300 days, broke the game :( Haven't been able to get over 30 day's since as I mentioned. On the other 3 games that I mentioned, I used Import on all of them before trashing the games because it just didn't help. There must be 'a' or 'several hidden files' that I'm not deleting when I delete the game from Steam and start fresh. But hey :) I'll see later today if this game gets over day 30.

You can also delete everything in "./steamapps/common/Kenshi", and then verify the game in Steam (right-click -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity...). Worth a try.

Do you meet or exceed the minimum requirements, and could you be having hardware problems? Maybe a hard drive and/or memory scan is in order. I wonder, just because the issue you're describing seems to be so rare.

Just a few days later :)

This is what I found on 'Missing zone files' for my game. When deleting more than 2 saves at a time using the delete key while in-game, it would CTD and the first save after restarting the game would come up as 'Missing zone files'. You wouldn't know this until you reloaded a save. All hard saves will be be this way after that first save and so will the quick saves. I've lost many hours of game play. Anyways, I checked every save after this for several days of play and I hard save my game every new in-game day and sometimes more, that's a LOT of save reloads.

Around day 50 it changed its way of corrupting the saves by not allowing me to remove/ delete any games using the delete key while in-game. So when I log out after playing I go to my Kenshi save files in the Steam game folder and remove them there with no problems.

I'm now at day 166 :)

Cheers and I hope this helps others experiencing this problem. I'm sure these corrupt files come in other ways also.

Just putting this here as extra info.

Day 126, same thing happened. I deleted 2 backup saves and wanted to make a new one, the game got stuck saving, couldn't do anything. After restarting and loading the last save, it said "Missing zone files".

Did an import (wanted to do one anyway for some mods) and it fixed itself.

This is a ram issue, if you run out of memory and try to pop a save it will pop this up when you load back. It is the game trying to save what it can. If you load a save prior to the memory problem you will not get the message. I play while I work on other project when I farm. I soak up my ram.

Missing zone file is usually a corruption of the file tho.
