I'm on hiatus on the moment because I burned myself out on the game, I eventually plan on coming back, hence the word "HIATUS". When I said the game was as wide and an ocean and as deep as a puddle I was more inferring the makers just didn't implement most things in the game to the best they could have been, especially when it comes to QoL and bug fixing.
If in half a year of "focused bug squashing" 90% of these bugs which have been known about since far back in BETA still aren't fixed then it just seems like the effort in polishing the game like they have claimed is not there, after 300 hours of playing the same thing all I want anymore is some quality of life patches, if they can't even do that for a game people have supported them on for years then why should I or anyone else support their next endeavor?
So now I had to pay 60 dollars for a dual set of new memory card. Thanks Kenshi!!
I have over 300 hours in this darn game and this bug is almost game breaking....well ..almost....and it all boils down too:
"STOP EATING THE BREAD!!!"
ok maybe it's not game breaking but it is making my cook, Molly, get fat and Ruka wants a meat wrap.
Molly, honey, that is too many carbs, just cook the bread and put it in the bread basket mmmkay....or you are going on the Keto diet.
Oh and please someone make a mod where a guard says "I used to be an adventurer like you...until I took a crossbow bolt to the knee" :)
Sigh let's talk about these bugs that barely even affect gameplay.
*Your character will randomly stop while attempting to reach a destination you've put on the map*
I've played the game long enough for this to happen but it happens rarely. Games with AI pathing are never perfect with it things like this should be expected, I'd barely call it a bug just ai rip.
*If anyone following your lead group member is attacked your lead will continue to burst off at full speed towards the destination instead of stopping to assist in combat*
This never happens anymore. Your teammates will assist other teammates in battle now in fact they will rush towards anyone of your teammates in battle now. Unless you have passive turned on for them, they will not engage battle then or help their teammates.
*People still get stuck on terrain constantly*
Easily fixable, rarely happens if you really can't get your companion out of that tough spot, pick him up
*People still get stuck in buildings during the map being loaded constantly*
Very weird even considering this a bug, I've been playing for a while and this has never happened, everytime I entered an area there's usually no buildings around to get stuck in and loading only last a few seconds. The people go inside the ground for a few seconds during loading and then pop back up on the road normally after loading. Weird but never caused any bugs.
*Huge amounts of clipping*
Can easily be fixed by changing what you wear or simply going to the surgeon and changing the shape of what's clipping "arm bulk leg bulk, pose, etc" and there are mods that also fix clipping with some clothing, so you can get those.
*Contraband can be smuggled through carrying someone
Contraband can be smuggled by putting it on animals *
..Obviously intended
*Hashish buyers barely have any money on them anyways* You can fix this with the economy + mod and more items mod, merchants in my game have 500000 Cats + and it is great.
*The 50% fencing cut counts for drug trading, not just fencing stolen property*
There are places on the map where you can go and sell drugs for 300%+ etc, you just have to know where. The price of drugs depends on location.
*Can't sell weapons and armor you make from a merchant store, only trade goods that nobody can buy because NPCs have no money* Economy + mod gives people more money to spend, so you can grab that mod for this too.
*Party will still run through forbidden buildings to keep a formation before running back out but not before becoming wanted*
When you run into forbidden buildings now it takes quite a bit for anyone to become wanted being in there.
*People fly off into the distance when dropped*
Never happened to me dropped plenty of people just fine, guessing that's fixed if it isn't then It's very very rare now.
*Limb damage on animals does nothing to hinder their combat*
I've had my animals hurt before and they do limp if badly hurt
*Shark still is engulfed in a civil war if you stay there for too long*
I've been to shark in the swamp for a few days, nothing really happened +..supposed to happen?
*Parts of your outpost will become owned by an NPC town*
I've built pretty close to an NPC town before, never happened
*Your outpost will randomly disappear*
Playing so far never happened
*NPCs will walk through your outpost walls as if they don't exist*
Doesn't happen anymore
*NPCs won't recognize your gate and will break down your walls directly*
They've always went for the gate for me, so this is probably fixed
*Slavers will attempt to break into your base to take people you have caged*
I've had slavers go by my base and never bother even though I had prisoners. so this is probably fixed
*Slavers will grab people near Shek towns causing a giant war where slavers are *
Slavers are literally crazy they enslave everyone and anyone even Holy Nation
*repeatedly released from jail only to be beaten and thrown back in as soon as they're released*
Never jailed before so couldn't tell you if this was fixed, but, probably is
*Your buildings in town will become unowned and you'll lose everything inside them*
Never happened to me my buildings in the hub stayed owned to me the entire game
*Blood spider attack range is abnormally huge compared to Skin spiders *
Easy fix with mods, easily mods in the steam workshop too search skin spider/blood spider
*Random floating roof structures right outside Black Desert City*
I've been to black desert city and don't remember seeing any random floating roof structures. lol might still be there, maybe It's intentional, and why would this be considered a bug? lol
*Animals have no swim animation and just run underwater, hitting you to death while you're swimming at the top of the water and they're at the bottom *
I've had skin spiders chase me under water but are completely unable to hit my people, so this is probably fixed.
*Store clerks still don't respawn if they're killed*
Yeah that's kind of intended, but there is a regenerate mod lucky for you
*Shark and the Tech Hunter towns in the south are constantly wiped out by the hostile wildlife they can't handle*
I've been to them and they seem fine so *shrug*
*Skeleton Legion and Second Empire Exiles fight in the Ashlands even though they're supposed to be allied to each other*
Haven't been to the ashlands yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I got there ;)
Games have bugs man every game does. Devs are still currently fixing bugs and they always have been. Through my playthrough I haven't ran into any game breaking bugs which is all that really matters. The released version is a pretty solid experience now and I think you would enjoy it again.
You have a very loose definition of trolling.
I think you were just giving into your own rant and saying's it's "wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle" sounds cool to you...
You wrote a bunch of petty complaints and are demanding that they should have been fixed?
"You can smuggle hashish..."
I mean, really? You do understand that smuggling hashish into a city is supposed to exist, right? But, this is a bug? A bug you had to list in your list of outrageous "bugs?"
And, of course, at every chance you can, you make the claim that something is permanently borked as if player-owned buildings are vanishing all over the place and the Second Coming of Okran is going to aspload the darn universe because you_just_have_to_rant_about_something_
Please show me on the Kenshi doll where the developers touched you.
I still hear whining and moaning and nothing to indicate moving forward.
As with Bethesda, MODers are more likely to fix issues here in the sort term, than the Developers.
in all seriousness tho OP why didn't you respond to hatsune? have you ever made a bug report? though if you have most would prob be disregarded as mentioned before a lot of these are just how the game works.
Path finding is bad and I frequently have to manually click to move a character around an invisible barrier (or order cancelling bubble) so that they’ll accept move order again. I also frequently have my group scatter and find every possible way to get from point A to B, I tested it one time with 20 characters and some characters literally ran multiple days away to get on a different trade route and take it to get just down the cliff from where I was. I also frequently run into an issue where PC’s will get confused and run in loops on some of the roads (The highest was seven laps) before finding the path and heading to where I told them to go, this usually happens in the Holy Nation.
*If anyone following your lead group member is attacked your lead will continue to burst off at full speed towards the destination instead of stopping to assist in combat*
I run into this constantly. When your group has a move order the only surefire way to get them all to stop and help in the attack is to stop their move order by shortening (or stopping) their order by clicking to move somewhere near where they’re at or clicking to attack target/all on the aggressors (right clicking on the enemy doesn’t always seem to do it which is why you need to give a more specific command).
*People still get stuck on terrain constantly*
This happens frequently to me too and sometimes I can pick the individual up to get them out of it but more often than not they all get stuck there and I can’t get them out unless I reload with a squad position reset (a couple of times that didn’t work and I just abandoned the characters).
*People still get stuck in buildings during the map being loaded constantly*
I run into this when I have a quick group that runs into town and someone runs through a building. When the loading catches up they’re stuck inside, and when it happens at night I usually have a fight with the guards to contend with when the homeowner freaks out and the alarm is triggered.
*Huge amounts of clipping*
In a clothing context I run into this a lot but I don’t see a lot of clipping into terrain or anything. Usually when there could be a terrain clipping situation the game goes into loading mode and you get teleported (or corrected) to where you should be, or what I frequently run into is sent back to where the problem started. I had Beep all cybered up with high athletics and he frequently runs completely through a mountain or through the air across canyons (mid 50’s kph), especially if it’s on fast forward x3 and when that happens I also get a lot of being teleported back to where something went haywire. The worst I ever saw it I was teleported back to the initial side of the mountain three times in a row. The game got in that hang-like situation where mouse and keyboard commands won’t do anything (that you see often around autosaves and area transitions) and by the third teleport the game crashed to desktop.
*Contraband can be smuggled through carrying someone
Also a great way to get all of the loot you stole in that town through the gate checkpoint.
*Hashish buyers barely have any money on them anyways *You can fix this with the economy + mod and more items mod, merchants in my game have 500000 Cats + and it is great.
Mods work unless you’re in the Holy Nation and then it’s back to everyone is broke, not sure if that’s intended or...
*Can't sell weapons and armor you make from a merchant store, only trade goods that nobody can buy because NPCs have no money
I quit trying to make weapons on merchant’s equipment because it would frequently trigger the guards for burglary, when I bought all the components and did the labor…
*Party will still run through forbidden buildings to keep a formation before running back out but not before becoming wanted *When you run into forbidden buildings now it takes quite a bit for anyone to become wanted being in there.
Unless you have certain mods…
*People fly off into the distance when dropped*
I don’t run into this frequently but I do run into it about once in every ten to twenty people I drop. I see it when people get knocked unconscious in combat very often. I just had a really weird fly away situation where a character got knocked unconscious from a beaked thing and he flew several hours of running away from the combat – luckily he lived.
*Limb damage on animals does nothing to hinder their combat*
It’s definitely different than what the bipeds experience. The only thing that I’ve seen it affect is movement speed which is ok if you’re kiting, but still doesn’t make sense compared to the rest of the game, but I think it was planned that way. You also can’t chop off an animal’s leg.
*Parts of your outpost will become owned by an NPC town*
If you build close to town you can also slowly erode into their build zone and build practically in their town, but it will eventually bite you and you’ll lose all your stuff that was previously in their city-limits. I’m sure there could be an easy fix to this, but I’ve noticed the game has a tendency to eat files if you play for a long period of time and the game needs to be verified to be playable again. If you play past a point of when the game starts to cannibalize itself you won’t regain any of the weird stuff that happens by verifying the game content or try to import your save.
*Your outpost will randomly disappear*
I’ve had this happen twice. The first time was after a starting a new vanilla game where I spent ~100 hours of time base building. When I loaded the game the next day my base and everything that wasn’t on a character or animal was gone, across all of my saves. I think it had to do with the game eating itself. I’ve noticed, that whether it’s modded or not, between 2-5 files are missing when the game gets weird and needs to be verified.
*NPCs will walk through your outpost walls as if they don't exist*
I haven’t seen NPC’s do this but I have seen PC’s do it and sometimes the walls seem to not be there for the PC’s and then the wall “solidifies” and they can get stuck outside of the outpost.
*NPCs won't recognize your gate and will break down your walls directly*
I see this quite a bit if the gate is closed or setup so that it takes a long time to get to the gate. I’m not sure if this is done on purpose or not.
*Slavers will grab people near Shek towns causing a giant war where slavers are
*repeatedly released from jail only to be beaten and thrown back in as soon as they're released*
I see this a lot with NPC’s and I’m not sure if it’s done on purpose or just an oversight.
*Your buildings in town will become unowned and you'll lose everything inside them*
I’m still trying to figure out if this is from the game eating itself or because you didn’t visit the town for a certain amount of time. If I leave one character in a bought building I’ve never lost it, but I have repeatedly lost bought buildings in every town but Mongrel.
*Blood spider attack range is abnormally huge compared to Skin spiders *
Not sure if that was intended or an oversight, but since the game has been under construction for so long I want to say that was planned with how fragile blood spider are.
*Random floating roof structures right outside Black Desert City*
I’ve run into this and other floating building debrisall across the map, there are some mods that fix it, and it sounds like it could be an easy fix to add into permanent game structure. Maybe the dev should consider taking on some of the modders to help with coding on a volunteer basis?!
*Store clerks still don't respawn if they're killed*
City population is sparse and doesn’t mimic any kind of reality. Some of the modders made some fixes for this, but I think some of them go too far the other way. I started a vanilla game that had no population for any of the major cities, which made for interesting pick throughs everyday when new loot spawned.
*Shark and the Tech Hunter towns in the south are constantly wiped out by the hostile wildlife they can't handle*
I’ve experienced this in the north and south, and some of the mods fix this.
The only other major issue I’ve run into is where you can’t go near certain towns, and sometime it’s your outpost, and attempting will cause the game to crash to desktop. Any people you have in those areas is lost for good unless you want to constantly reload the game while experimenting, but I’ve never found a workaround. This has been the major reason I’ve had to start a new game (It’s happened 8 times now and I have 400+ hours into the game since it launched). I think this is part of the game eating itself because I go through the process of rebooting my system and loading the game and the problem still exists, and when I verify I’m missing files. I’ve tried running this game with a clean boot and it still self-destructs on long play sessions. Yet, I still have fun and keep coming back. Unfortunately, my latest game just had this happen and I can’t fix it. So I’ll probably take a break and wait for a patch and/or see what happens with the mods to resolve this problem.
GTX1070
i7-6700
16gb RAM
Windows 10 64-bit
I've run it on an SSD and an HDD
I have an I7-7700k with a GTX 970 16gb ram windows 10 64 bit SSD
The only issues I have that are mentioned above are pathing issues and rarely getting stuck for no reason. Even 50 hours into the game my outpost was never overran by the town nearby or disappear so *shrug*
But at least - it doesn't matter.
The game is great like it is . Yes- the garrus have no swim animation , yes - the garrus will figth even if the legs are broken , yes - the people fly after you drop from time to time , yes - the game needs to long to activate the collision if you move from one cell to the other ( that makes you stop ) and yes most of the other things are true.
But this will not hinder me to play this game.
Kenshi is one of the best games I have ever played.
Same tho I've been addicted to it for days
